  • Patent number: 4602776
Abstract: An apparatus and method in conjunction with a copier and/or a collator is disclosed for providing on-line and off-line insertion of sheet material or collation, respectively. The apparatus includes a single supply tray and sheet feeder therefor. The supply tray is pre-loaded with one or more types of insert material, each type being separated by a coded sheet. As the insert sheets are fed, a sensor detects the coded sheet which is fed to an overflow tray and further feeding from the supply tray is inhibited until additional copy sheets from the copier is supplied in the on-line mode of operation, or a different type of material is to be collated in the off-line mode.

  • Patent number: 4411515
Abstract: A copy set collecting and storage arrangement is disclosed for a high speed copy reproduction system or duplicator machine having a finishing station. The arrangement includes an elevator for collecting finished copy sets in a stack and a conveyor for receiving one or more stacks from the elevator. Controls are devised for "limitless" finishing wherein the duplicator is placed in Standby, count holding condition when the full storage capacity has been reached and the programmed reproduction run has not been achieved. The controls will effect automatic start-up again when one or more of the stacks have been removed until once again the capacity has been reached and the reproduction run has not been completed.

Date of Patent: October 25, 1983
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation
Inventors: William P. Kukucka, Frank R. Hynes, Hugh L. Jones, David M. Thompson

  • Patent number: 3967896
Abstract: An imaging lens system for electrostatic type reproduction machine or copiers utilizing a zoom lens effective to provide, within the magnification limits of the lens, infinitely variable image sizes.A control is provided to pre-set the lens to automatically give, upon actuation, at least one preselected image size, with an override control to enable the lens to be set to provide any image size regardless of pre-set conditions.Further controls are provided for the machine nonimage erase mechanism to automatically compensate for changes in the image borders brought about by changes in image size due to resetting of the zoom lens. For this purpose, an infinitely variable edge fadeout apparatus is provided incorporating movable shutters to vary the effective size of the edge erasure slots in correspondence with image size together with timing controls for changing the operational timing of the pitch fadeout lamp in response to changes in image size upon resetting of the zoom lens.

  • Patent number: 3961849
Abstract: An arrangement of processing actions in an electrostatic printing machine of the type employing an endless photoconductive belt. The actions are arranged such that the exposure station for the machine occupies an entire belt run, a second run is utilized for magnetic brush development, and a third run is utilized for charging the belt prior to exposure and for cleaning the belt after each transfer of a developed image.

  • Patent number: 3930725
Abstract: An electrostatographic printing machine employing sheet conveyance along a path through the machine from a plurality of supply sources to a sheet output delivery point. An individual conveyor mechanism is adapted to convey sheets to a common sheet registration mechanism associated with the conveyor mechanism for one of the supply sources. The registration mechanism serves as a control element in the machine processing programming system which includes the feeding of sheets from the individual supply sources, and the processing events for the production of electrostatic latent images and the transfer thereof to the sheets.
