Patent number: 8788800Abstract: An operating system (OS) processing method for a host computer includes the following steps: when the host computer is booting, a boot loader is read from a boot reading device according to a boot priority order of the host computer. A signature detecting program included in the boot loader is executed to detect data stored in a specified address of a master boot record (MBR) of the host computer. When it is determined that the present version signature of the host computer does not match the preset version signature according to the data stored in the specified address, an OS image is read from the boot reading device, an OS is installed on the host computer according to the OS image. The data stored in the specified address of the MBR is amended according to an image version signature of the installed OS.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2011Date of Patent: July 22, 2014Assignee: Institute for Information IndustryInventors: Yen-Wen Huang, Chung-Ting Kao, Hui-Kuang Chung, Han-Chao Lee

Publication number: 20130125116Abstract: A method for adjusting a virtual resource used in a virtual system is provided. The method comprises the following steps. At least one virtual machine is provided in the virtual system, and the at least one virtual machine has maximum and minimum thresholds of I/O (Input/Output) loading and maximum and minimum thresholds of operation loading. An I/O loading amount and an operation loading amount of the total loading amount of the virtual system are retrieved. The relationship of the I/O loading amount and the maximum and minimum thresholds of I/O loading is determined to adjust the number of the virtual machine, and the relationship of the operation loading amount and the maximum and minimum thresholds of operation loading is determined as well to adjust an unit resource amount of the virtual machine.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2011Publication date: May 16, 2013Applicant: Institute for Information IndustryInventors: Kun-Hsing Liu, Yen-Wen Huang, Hui-Kuang Chung, Han-Chao Lee

Publication number: 20130117417Abstract: A method for transmitting data includes determining which one server has sufficient bandwidth to transmit data packets by a management module when the server needs to transmit the data packets; if the server does not has sufficient bandwidth to transmit the data packets, this server will transmit the data packets to the second one server through a peripheral transmission device; and the second server will receive and transmit the data packets to the Internet by the bandwidth thereof. A data transmission system is disclosed herein.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 2, 2012Publication date: May 9, 2013Applicant: INSTITUTE FOR INFORMATION INDUSTRYInventors: Rick C.S. Patent number: 8423884Abstract: A method for operating a graphic user interface is provided. The operation method comprises the following steps. An N-dimensional physical machine resource entity is provided. A first OS system graphic object is generated in a specific resource column of each of N?1 resource plane. Resource graphic objects are generated to occupy one of the resource blocks of each of the resource columns besides the specific resource column. The first OS system graphic object is deformed to display a usage of a first resource and a specific resource, and the number of the resource graphic objects is changed to display a remaining amount of the first resource and the specific resource.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2011Date of Patent: April 16, 2013Assignee: Institute for Information IndustryInventors: Po-Kuan Lee, Hui-Kuang Chung, Han-Chao Lee

Publication number: 20110314203Abstract: Resource adjustment methods and systems for virtual machines (VMs) for use in at least one physical device are provided. First, a first VM having a first resource set and a second VM having a second resource set are respectively enabled to enter a suspended state. A first user space address and a second user space address are respectively obtained from a first VM memory page table corresponding to the first VM and a second VM page table corresponding to the second VM, and a first physical memory address corresponding to the first user space address in the physical device and a second physical memory address corresponding to the second user space address in the physical device are obtained from a Hypervisor. The first user space address is mapped to the second physical memory address by the Hypervisor. Then, the first VM is enabled to enter an execution state, and the second VM is stopped.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2010Publication date: December 22, 2011Inventors: Lee-Chung CHEN, Hui-Kuang Chung, Chih-Kai Hu, Chung-Ting Kao

Patent number: 7001144Abstract: A bucket tip shroud in a gas turbine includes a seal rail having a cutter tooth at one end. Bucket tip shroud creep rate can be reduced by removing the cutter tooth from the bucket tip shroud seal rail after use or with a pre-groove honeycomb shroud. Preferably, the remaining geometry matches a geometry of the seal rail within a predetermined tolerance.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2003Date of Patent: February 21, 2006Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: John P. Urban, Pat Mohr, Emilio Fernandez, Hui Kuang, Robert R. Berry

Patent number: 6520836Abstract: The trailing edge of a turbine bucket is cut back from a root portion of the bucket to a location 50-75% of the span of the bucket. The cutback portion is tapered, forming an obtuse angle between it and the remaining original portion of the trailing edge outwardly of the cutback portion. A new conical section is thus created of a slightly larger conical and, hence, transverse configuration. The crack is removed upon removal of the material forming the cutback. With the edges of the recreated conical section surrounded, the cutback portion assumes a scalloped configuration with the exit openings of the cooling holes as seen from opposite sides of the bucket.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2001Date of Patent: February 18, 2003Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Gilbert Joseph Dean, David Williams, Kenneth Lorenzo Parks, Rachel Elizabeth Kyano, Benjamin Erick Baker, Hui Kuang

Patent number: 6382632Abstract: A brush seal assembly is radially and axially repositionable relative to stationary and rotating components. Shim packs whose thickness can be reduced by peeling adhesively attached foil layers from the shim packs are used to provide both axial and radial repositioning. In another form, a plurality of set screws may be threaded into a mounting member for the brush seal assembly to controllably space the brush seal from the rotating component. In a further form, an eccentric cam is rotated to reposition the brush seal assembly radially inwardly or outwardly with shim packs being used to reposition the brush seal in an axial direction.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2001Date of Patent: May 7, 2002Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Raymond Edward Chupp, Osman Saim Dinc, Gayle Hobbs Goetze, John Augustus Halbohm, Kenneth Lorenzo Parks, Hui Kuang, George Ernest Reluzco
