  • Publication number: 20130011208
Abstract: A sandbag retaining wall has interconnecting members for attaching sandbags in adjacent courses together. The sandbag interconnecting member has a generally planar body having at least three projections on its upper side and its lower side which can protrude into the sandbags. The sandbag interconnecting member is sized such that two sandbag interconnecting members can fit in spaced-apart positions on the upper or lower side of a sandbag. In another embodiment, the sandbag interconnecting member is a strip of material having an upper side and a lower side, both of which can form a detachable bond to a sandbag. The surfaces of the interconnecting member, and the sandbag wall, or a portion thereof, comprise mating parts of a hook-and-loop fastener (Velcro) or similar attachment means.

  • Publication number: 20090169301
Abstract: An erosion-control element for making erosion-control structures comprises a plurality of sandbags attached together by closed-loop attachment members which extend through holes positioned near the bag edges and not connected to the fill-holding chamber in the bag. The erosion-control elements can be used to form structures for protecting underwater shorelines or other ground subject to water erosion.

  • Patent number: 7452164
Abstract: A retaining wall structure built of wall-building units such as sand/soil bags or hardenable building units such as clay bricks has interconnecting members placed between adjacent courses of units to attach the adjacent courses to one another. The interconnecting members have projections on both sides which protrude into the wall-building units of the adjacent courses. Sheets of geogrid preferably extend from between some of the courses of wall-building units into the fill retained by the wall-building units. Projections on the interconnecting members protrude through holes in the geogrid sheet, anchoring the wall face to the reinforced soil structure.

  • Publication number: 20080247685
Abstract: A construction element for making retaining walls and erosion control structures comprises a plurality of sandbags connected together by means of a cord. The bags have flexible walls and holes through which the cord extends. The holes can be in various positions on the bags, and various spacings of the bags on the cord can be used. The construction elements can be used to form retaining walls, structures for protecting underwater shoreline areas from erosion, and other structures in the civil engineering field.

  • Publication number: 20080202073
Abstract: A bag for holding fill material for use in the construction of sandbag retaining walls and erosion control has two or more longitudinally-extending compartments formed by a line of attachment between opposed bag wall sections. In use, if one compartment wall fails, the bag as a whole will remain functional within the wall. The compartments can also be filled with different fill materials, for example soil and dry mix concrete, to provide walls having characteristics suited for particular applications.

  • Publication number: 20080138157
Abstract: A wall-building unit for use in the construction of sandbag-type walls for erosion control, slope stabilization and similar applications comprises an inner bag filled with a fill material and an outer bag extending longitudinally over it so that the bottom of the outer bag is adjacent to and covers the open top edge of the inner bag. The wall-building unit holds more fill material than a conventional sandbag.

  • Patent number: 7083364
Abstract: A retaining wall structure built of wall-building units such as sand/soil bags or hardenable building units such as clay bricks has interconnecting members placed between adjacent courses of units to attach the adjacent courses to one another. The interconnecting members are plates having projections on both sides which protrude into the wall-building units of the adjacent courses. Sheets of geogrid preferably extend from between some of the courses of wall-building units into the fill retained by the wall-building units. Projections on the interconnecting members protrude through holes in the geogrid sheet, anchoring the wall face to the reinforced soil structure.
