    Abstract: A device and method of controlling a sound reproducing device are disclosed. The device includes a communication unit, which transmits and receives data to and from the sound reproducing device; a sensing unit, which detects a motion of the device and obtains azimuth information regarding an azimuth pointed by a pre-set region of the device based on the motion; and a control unit, which receives the azimuth information regarding the sound reproducing device from the sound reproducing device via the communication unit and, if it is determined that the azimuth information regarding the device corresponds to the azimuth information regarding the sound reproducing device within a pre-set range, determines the sound reproducing device as a controlled device.

The digital receive apparatus capable of simultaneously receiving the plurality of channels according to the present invention selects a plurality of channels among received signals by a user interface according to a mode of displaying a plurality of screens, displays the plurality of selected channels, and controls the display function so that the same channels are not displayed simultaneously. Therefore, when the plurality of channels are received and are displayed using a double screen mode, it is possible to control the display function so that the same channels are not displayed on the left and right screens. Accordingly, it is possible to effectively perform the function of displaying the plurality of screens.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method of compressing a video signal transmission band and a device therefor which can transmit video without any distortion by selecting only the low frequency components of a video signal with most of the information in a block for digital transmission and extracting DC components from this block thereby performing the compression of the transmission band. The method according to the present invention involves a sub-block determining step for determining a sub-block by separating a low frequency area with respect to horizontal, vertical, and temporal (time) axes, an encoding step for decimating respectively the horizontal and vertical axes to 1/M, generating a band compressing block and finally extracting the DC components, and a decoding step for interpolating the DC components to M times after the encoding step and restoring the block in which the DC components were extracted.
