  • Patent number: 9307317
Abstract: A wireless programmable microphone apparatus and related devices are disclosed. The programmable wireless microphone apparatus may be used by a law enforcement agency to collect data that may be used as evidence in a legal proceeding. The wireless programmable microphone apparatus includes one or more internal storage devices that may be secure storage drives and/or be pre-configured to execute one or more related applications in a plug-in fashion. The storage device may contain a suite of applications that are pre-configured to execute without requiring “installation” on a computer system prior to execution. The wireless programmable microphone may have one or more wireless communication and connection interfaces to stream audio and associated metadata to an associated mobile surveillance system. The wireless communication interfaces may also be used for device authentication. Optionally, audio and metadata information may be stored locally and synchronized with other devices at a later time.

  • Publication number: 20160065908
Abstract: A portable camera apparatus may be used by a law enforcement agency to collect data that may be used as evidence in a legal proceeding. The portable camera apparatus may include internal storage device(s) that may be pre-configured to execute one or more related applications upon (e.g., plug-in, network or other) connection to a computer device. The storage device(s) may contain a suite of applications that are pre-configured to execute without requiring “installation” on a computer system prior to execution. Additionally, the storage device may be a secure storage drive for use with an associated pre-defined computer device or set of devices. The secure storage drive allows access only when properly authenticated to the computer device attempting to access the secure storage drive. The portable camera apparatus may include smart docking and/or recharging bays.

  • Publication number: 20160062762
Abstract: A storage device that is pre-configured to execute one or more related applications when connected to a computer device or system. The storage device may contain a suite of applications that are pre-configured to execute without requiring “installation” on the computer device or system prior to execution. The storage device may be a secure (e.g., protected) storage drive for use with the associated computer device or system. The secure storage drive allows access only when properly authenticated to the computer device or system attempting to access the secure storage drive. Additionally, other levels of authentication may be required prior to allowing access. For example, access may only be allowed if both the computer device or system and a user authenticated to the computer device are recognized by the secure storage drive.

  • Patent number: 9225527
Abstract: A secure (e.g., protected) storage drive for use with an associated computer device is disclosed. The secure storage drive allows access only when properly authenticated to the computer device attempting to access the secure storage drive. Additionally, other levels of authentication may be required prior to allowing access. For example, access may only be allowed if both the computer device and a user authenticated to the computer device are recognized by the secure storage drive. If access to the secure storage drive is not permitted, then the secure storage drive may remain hidden and not accessible to the operating system of the computer device. Accordingly, if hidden, no command of the operating system of the computer device can access, alter, or erase data on the secure storage drive.

  • Patent number: 9041803
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention include method and apparatuses that may be utilized to more efficiently use available storage space for a digital video recording system in a law enforcement vehicle and final “backend storage systems.” In one embodiment of the present invention, video and audio data is recorded in one or more buffers when a triggering event is activated, while a digital video recording device accounts for specified pre-event time, a time period before a first triggering event has been activated, and a post-event time, a time period after a second triggering event has been activated. The system will tag the actual start and stop points of events in one or more buffers based on a first and a second triggering event and will then include the pre-event and post-event data along with specified data. The system will then extract the event from one or more buffer files and write the event into final video files to be stored in a hard disk drive.
