  • Patent number: 7387550
Abstract: A dual beam receptacle terminal is shown having a generally box shaped receptacle contact where first and second contact portions are reversely bent from an upper wall to overlap within an interior of the receptacle contact. The first and second contact portions also extend in a cantilevered fashion from the upper wall. A spherical dimple is provided on the upper of the two reversely bent contact portions in the location of the overlapped portion. Contact stop portions are provided on the side walls of the receptacle contact portion which engage the contact stop portions on the receptacle sidewalls. A coverwall is provided overlapping the upper wall which forms a clean seam with the sidewall from which the upper wall extends.

  • Patent number: 6706970
Abstract: A cable strain relief is provided that includes a cable retention member and a cable support member matable with one another. The cable retention member has a retention body and at least one ribbed arm. The cable retention member also includes a cable grip configured to engage a cable. The cable support member has a support body that is configured to receive a cable along a cable retention passage therethrough. The channel in the cable support member frictionally receives and retains the arm on the cable retention member when the cable retention and support members are joined with one another. The cable grip is configured to securely engage at least a jacket of the cable to resist movement of the cable with respect to the cable support and retention members. Alternatively, different structures and positions for the cable grip may be provided. The cable grip may include a punch-out pattern of teeth in the retention body of the cable retention member.

Abstract: In accordance with at least one embodiment, a cable strain relief is provided that comprises a cable retention member and a cable support member matable with one another. Alternative embodiments of the present invention use different structures and positions for the cable grip.

  • Publication number: 20030176094
Abstract: An electric connector assembly is provided having a housing with a chamber therein having an open end configured to receive a plug contact. The electric connector assembly includes a receptacle contact having a contact box on one end located in the chamber. The electrical connector has a contact pin on an opposite end extending from the chamber, and the contact box has a latch feature on a periphery thereof securing the contact box to the housing. The contact box has an open front end aligning with the open end of the chamber that is configured to receive a plug contact. The receptacle contact further includes a compliant section between the contact box and contact pin that is flexible to absorb vibrations introduced into the contact box and contact pin.

  • Patent number: 6599150
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly comprising includes a housing having a plurality of terminal receiving passages. Each terminal passage has an opening configured to permit an electrical terminal to be inserted into the passage and a deflectable latch for securing the terminal within the passage. A terminal position assurance device (TPA) is matable with the housing for movement between a partially engaged position and a fully engaged position. The TPA defines an overstress features that cooperates with the latches when the TPA is at its preset position to prevent the latches from deflecting beyond a predetermined point as the terminals are inserted into and/or removed from the passages. The overstress features may include wedge members that are insertable into the housing at locations adjacent the latches. The terminal passages may be arranged in adjacent pairs. In this configuration, the housing includes a longitudinal gap extending between the terminal latches of given pair of adjacent passages.
