  • Patent number: 11512656
Abstract: A method for operating an oxycombustion engine system includes passing a nitrogen-depleted gas, a fuel, and a recycled exhaust gas into a combustion chamber, combusting a mixture of the nitrogen-depleted gas, the fuel, and the recycled exhaust gas, thereby producing an exhaust gas including carbon dioxide, detecting a pressure of the recycled exhaust gas passed to the combustion chamber, determining whether the detected pressure of the recycled exhaust gas is less than a configurable pressure threshold, and in response to determining that the detected pressure of the recycled exhaust gas is less than the configurable pressure threshold, increasing the pressure of the recycled exhaust gas passed to the combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 10926994
Abstract: A point-of-sale fuel dispensing system, a pump assembly and a method of dispensing fuel at a point-of-sale. The system includes a market fuel storage tank, pump assembly, fuel conduit, separation unit, numerous enriched fuel product tanks and a controller. The separation unit may selectively receive at least a portion of market fuel and convert it into an octane-rich fuel component and a cetane-rich fuel component that may be subsequently dispensed to a vehicle being fueled, where a fuel grade selection and retail payment of a fuel containing the octane-rich or cetane-rich fuel components is provided to the vehicle based on user input at the customer interface.

  • Patent number: 10697412
Abstract: The present application is directed to systems and methods for on-board fuel separation. The system includes: a source fuel tank for liquid fuel; a pump; and a membrane module. The membrane module includes a hydrophilic membrane, a retentate channel, and a permeate channel. The retentate and permeate channels are on opposing sides of the membrane. The membrane module receives fuel from the source fuel tank and separates the liquid fuel into a high octane fraction that collects in the retentate channel and a low octane fraction that diffuses through the membrane to the permeate channel. The system further includes a low octane fuel tank for receiving at least a portion of the low octane fraction, a high octane fuel tank for receiving at least a portion of the high octane fraction, and an engine configured to selectively receive at least a portion of the low and high octane fractions.

  • Publication number: 20190170046
Abstract: Embodiments of a system for on-site conversion of carbon dioxide from vehicle exhaust to liquid fuels and fuel additives comprise a carbon dioxide collection system, an external power source, an electrolyzer, and a carbon dioxide conversion system. The carbon dioxide collection system interfaces with a mobile carbon dioxide capture system onboard a vehicle to transfer CO2 captured from vehicle exhaust to a vessel in the carbon dioxide collection system. The external power source provides the energy required for operation of the carbon dioxide conversion system and the electrolyzer. The electrolyzer separates a water feed into hydrogen and oxygen to generate a hydrogen feed and an oxygen feed. The carbon dioxide conversion system converts the CO2 collected from the exhaust of the vehicles and delivered to the carbon dioxide collection system and the hydrogen feed from the electrolyzer into useful liquid fuels and fuel additives through electrochemical reduction.
