The method comprises the steps of: defining a active region and a dummy region in a substrate; forming a black matrix on the substrate at the outside of the active region; selectively forming a RGB resin film on the active region while selectively forming a RGB resin film on the dummy region; forming a protective film on the resulting structure; forming a photosensitive resin film on the protective film; forming a half-tone mask pattern on the photosensitive resin film; and selectively etching the photosensitive resin film using the half-tone mask pattern so as to form the post spacers having a different height.

The disclosed fringe field switching mode LCD includes counter electrodes and pixel electrodes arranged on a back substrate to produce a fringe field having horizontal elements parallel to data bus lines at one unit pixel while producing a fringe field having horizontal elements parallel to gate bus lines at each of unit pixels longitudinally and laterally adjacent to the one unit pixel. In this LCD, the rubbing axis of a back horizontal alignment film defines an angle of ±45±10° with respect to each of the gate bus lines.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display device, and a manufacturing method thereof, having an existing box-like counter electrode connected to the source/drain electrode through a first contact hole in the gate insulating film and so is used as the pixel electrode, and the existing slit-shaped counter electrode is connected to the non-transparent metallic common bus line through a second contact hole in the gate insulating film and so becomes the counter electrode while maintaining the existing process layer structure as it is, so that even if a short circuit occurs between the gate bus line and the pixel electrode in the same layer due to the particle, degradation is limited to only one pixel, which results in enhancing of the process yield.

Fourth, by forming a gate insulating layer, an amorphous silicon layer and a second insulating layer on the substrate formed on the gate bus line and the common electrode line.
