    Abstract: A display apparatus includes a display panel, a backlight unit, and a capturing unit. The display panel includes a polarizing plate having a first polarizing axis parallel to a first direction, an isotropic diffuser including an anisotropic region having a transmission axis parallel to the first direction and a diffusing axis parallel to a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the polarizing plate and the anisotropic diffuser. The backlight unit is disposed at a rear side of the anisotropic diffuser and generates a first light linearly polarized in the second direction. The capturing unit is disposed at a rear side of the anisotropic region and captures an image of a subject at a front side of the display panel.
