  • Patent number: 5126832
Abstract: A character synthesizer for inserting into video signals, characters having complementary colors of video signals. The character synthesizer includes a video decoder for decoding the incoming video color signals to produce color-difference signals, a color-phase detector for detecting the color-phase voltage of the color-difference signals, an excessive white detector for comparing the brightness signals with a reference voltage, a low saturation detector for comparing the color signals with the low saturation voltage, a character generator, a complementary color detecting and control device, a video encoder for encoding the color signals of the characters, a mixer for combining the incoming video signals and the video-encoded color signals of characters, and a delay device for delaying the character signals by the time necessary for the complementary color transformation and video encoding.

  • Patent number: 5049998
Abstract: A circuit and method for improving picture quality by interpolation in a digital video camera or in an image processing system. A preferred embodiment performs interpolation of a video signal from a CCD image pickup device. The circuit includes a first pitch (pixel) delay circuit 20, a 2-decimation circuit, a second pitch delay circuit 30 and a third pitch delay circuit 40. The circuit further includes a first adder and multiplier 50 connected to the outputs of the second pitch delay circuit and the 2-decimation circuit, a second adder and multiplier 60 connected to an output of the third pitch delay circuit and an output of the 2-decimation circuit and an adder 70 for combining the output of circuits 10, 50 and 60 to a clock signal. The adder 70 also samples the combined signal in response to the clock signal and holds the sampled signal for output of a picture signal of improve quality.

  • Patent number: 5025308
Abstract: A quotation or "comb teeth" pattern signal generating circuit of a video camera capable of obtaining a better quality of picture screen image by selecting the zebra pattern able to be seen by each stage by dividing the video signal gain band into each stage in the video camera. The invention includes: video signal amplifying means, NAM video signal means, video signal integrating means, zebra signal generating means, zebra signal control means, and monitor signal selecting means. According to the invention, since the picture screen condition and the light quantity state are easily caught in each gain band, a better quality of picture screen image is obtained, and separate measuring instrumentation or a master monitor is not required in order to measure the picture screen condition or the light quantity when taking a picture of a field location as in the prior art.

  • Patent number: 4933750
Abstract: An auto-master pedestal control circuit is provided in which a master pedestal detector includes an amplifier, clamping circuit and integration circuit. The master pedestal detector detects a NAM video signal applied through an input terminal, and produces a direct current signal with a constant level. A logic operator (MICOM) compares a detected pedestal level with an internal predetermined reference level. A master pedestal controller adjusts a gain of a video signal which is composed of outputs of the logic operator and an amplifier. The amplifier is used for amplifying the inputted video signal.
