  • Patent number: 6915205
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for detecting location of a movable body in a navigation system comprising a map data detector for detecting map information of a region corresponding to location information from an external digital map storage on the basis of the location information of the movable body transmitted from sensors sensing the location and traveling information of the movable body; a memory for storing the map information detected from the map data detector; a filter for computing an optimum location of the movable body including road error included in the map information on the basis of the location and traveling information of the movable body transmitted from the sensors; and a map-matching unit for receiving the optimum location information of the movable body from the filter and correcting the optimum location information by matching the optimum location information and the map information stored in the memory.

  • Publication number: 20050119798
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring the velocity of a vehicle are provided. An acceleration measurement received from an accelerator and RGI data received from an external information server are stored and an irregularity constant of the accelerator is determined. It is determined whether the vehicle is in a stationary state by analyzing the acceleration measurement. If the vehicle is not in the stationary state, the inclination angle of a road on which the vehicle is traveling is calculated using a plurality of three-dimensional shape points included in the RGI data. A gravity acceleration component is compensated for from the acceleration measurement using the road inclination angle. The velocity of the vehicle is calculated using the compensated acceleration measurement.

  • Publication number: 20050114016
Abstract: A navigation system including a map data server and a navigation terminal. The map data server stores map data produced for the map information of a specific region. When an external manager modifies the map data, the server produces and transmits map modification command information corresponding to the modified map data. The navigation terminal stores map data corresponding to the map data stored in the map data server, receives and analyzes the map modification command information, and modifies the previously stored map data according to the analyzed result. Therefore, map data can be updated using the small amount of map modification command data.

  • Publication number: 20050102096
Abstract: An off-board navigation system and method for calibrating an error using the same. A server provided in the off-board navigation system calculates a predetermined path using a pre-stored map in response to a request, generates calibration information based upon the calculated path, and transmits the calculated path and the calibration information. A terminal provided in the off-board navigation system requests that the server calculate the predetermined path, receives the calculated path and the calibration information, compares the calibration information and position information measured by sensors embedded in the terminal, and compensates for the sensors. The off-board navigation system can calibrate a position error between map information and actual traveling information, and hence can improve the accuracy of navigation service.
