  • Patent number: 7275891
Abstract: The apparatus may include a space frame on which is mounted at least one hydrofoil for generating positive or negative lift. The frame is attachable to underwater equipment such as a turbine. The hydrofoils are adapted to produce negative lift when a flow of liquid passes over them and so in use cause the apparatus and attached equipment to sink to the seabed. The flow of water over the hydrofoils continue to produce negative life and so maintain the apparatus on the seabed. In certain embodiments, the hydrofoils can typically be set to a passive configuration in which they flip over when the current flow changes direction. Furthermore, the hydrofoils are selectively rotatable to provide an angle of attack such that they may be adapted to provide positive lift when it is necessary to remove the apparatus from the water.

  • Patent number: 7265555
Abstract: A loop impedance meter is provided for testing an AC electrical main supply incorporating a residual current device. The loop impedance meter includes an electrical control circuit for connecting a load resistance intermittently between the AC main supply terminal and the earth terminal to insure a potential difference between those terminals and to provide an indication of the loop impedance of the AC main supply from that potential difference. The control circuit includes an electronic switch in series with the load resistance, and arranged to open and close the electronic switch by applying a plurality of voltage pulses. The width of the voltage pulses is less than a millisecond, causing a series of measurement pulses of different widths to flow through the load resistance. The control circuit is arranged to process the results of measuring the loop impedance by extrapolating to the effective impedance at the AC mains supply frequency.

  • Patent number: 6711797
Abstract: A tooling fixture includes a plurality of cylinders in a module fitted with pistons in which a portion thereof extends from the surface of the module. The cylinders are connected with a fluid source by a control valve assembly. The control valve assembly controls the amount of fluid to enter the cylinders in order to raise the pistons until a portion thereof are in contact with and support a workpiece. Once all of the pistons are in contact with and are fully supporting the workpiece, the fluid pressure is stabilized, maintaining the pistons at their set heights. Once the pistons are desired to be lowered, the valve assembly opens and the fluid can freely exit the cylinders and retract the pistons back into the module.

  • Patent number: 6631904
Abstract: A game to promote communication and understanding between couples. The game involves assigning points to a number of activities to be performed by one person, for example, the man, for the benefit of the second person, the woman. When the man performs an act such as letting the woman sleep in, taking the woman out to dinner, or giving the woman a gift, he is awarded the points assigned to that act. The accumulated points are tracked on a board. Once the points reach a certain level, the man is permitted to redeem the points for a reward such as a night out. The woman is permitted to block the awarding of points temporarily in the event of an extraordinary event such as the man forgetting the woman's birthday or not helping out with household chores.
