  • Patent number: 8717883
Abstract: Data is received from a media gateway relating to a congestion level in the media gateway. In a computer having a processor and a memory, at least a first datum and a second datum included in the data are evaluated. Based on the evaluation, it is determined whether the congestion level exceeds a predetermined level. The congestion level is reported, including whether the congestion level exceeds the predetermined level.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 17, 2010
Date of Patent: May 6, 2014
Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.
Inventors: James N. Russell, Ian C. Scott, Bob E. Taylor, Roy Curtis Shell, IV, Kenny M. Hawkins
  • Patent number: 8331348
Abstract: An approach is provided for signaling gateway management. Data from a plurality of signaling gateways corresponding to a plurality of trunks of a telecommunications network is automatically retrieved, each signaling gateway being configured to convert circuit-switched signaling to packet-switched signaling. The data is stored. An operating state for each of the plurality of trunks is determined based on the data to perform trending analysis for the operation of one or more of the plurality of trunks.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 2, 2009
Date of Patent: December 11, 2012
Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.

  • Patent number: 6579702
Abstract: A mammalian gene encoding a tolloid-like protein distinct from human or murine BMP-1/mTld and distinct from human or murine mTll-1 is presented. The gene is similar in structure to members of the BMP-1 family of genes, but maps to a distinct location and encodes a distinct protein having distinct activities. The protein encoded by the gene can be used to screen putative therapeutic agents in an ongoing effort to inhibit activity of the BMP-1 family of genes to prevent scarring, fibrosis, and the like.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 2, 1999
Date of Patent: June 17, 2003
    Assignee: Wiconsin Alumni Research Foundation
