Publication number: 20080039765Abstract: An apparatus for disposition on appendage, such as an arm or leg, is capable of encircling and applying opposing forces selectively thereto. A C-shaped component receives one side of the appendage, a second C-shaped component receives the other side of the appendage, and a tensioning system draws the two components together for selective application of pressure to the appendage. Outriggers and pressure applicators may be used to apply pressure to extended areas of the appendage that otherwise would not be engaged by the C-shaped components. Side-to-side tissue compression thereby is provided for deflection of muscle forces, functional shortening of muscle length, and the maintenance of neurovascular channels. Circumferential forces may be minimized based on semirigid characteristics of the components. Elbow and shoulder braces apply side-to-side tissue compression to arms.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2007Publication date: February 14, 2008Applicant: NORDT DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, LLCInventors: William Nordt, Ian Kovacevich, Kevin Dahlquist, Tom Philpott

Publication number: 20080035644Abstract: ABSTRACT A container includes a first bowl suspended by a dual-axis gimbal within—and out of contact with—a second bowl. The first bowl includes a first opening and the second bowl includes a second opening. The first opening overlies the second opening to permit access to an interior storage space of the first bowl from an exterior of the container when the first and second bowls are in respective upright orientations. The first bowl may be rotated 180 degrees in every rotational direction relative to the second bowl. A lid is removably attachable to the second bowl and that inhibits rotational movement of the first bowl. A handle circumferentially extends entirely around the second bowl and defines an opening for a finger or thumb for gripping and holding of the container when the lid is attached.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2007Publication date: February 14, 2008Applicant: LOOPA, LLCInventors: Kevin Dahlquist, Daniel Bizzell, Ian Kovacevich

Publication number: 20080039757Abstract: A potentiating support for an area of a body includes a framework having a surface for abutment with an area of a body. The framework defines a plurality of permanent openings in the surface regardless of whether the surface is in abutment with the area of the body, the openings extending completely through and being bounded by the framework. Furthermore, the framework, along its entire boundary with at least one of the openings, is elastically stretchable between a first initial state and extended states and, when expanded to an extended state, the framework stores potential energy that is released as kinetic energy upon its return to the initial state. The support also includes a fastening mechanism connected at multiple points proximate each of opposite sides of the framework for applying tension at each of the multiple points for tensioning the framework's surface in abutment with the area of the body.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 19, 2007Publication date: February 14, 2008Applicant: NORDT DEVELOPMENT CO., LLCInventors: William Nordt, Ian Kovacevich, Kevin Dahlquist, Tom Philpott

Publication number: 20070055191Abstract: A dynamic splint assembly for a hand includes a forearm support section configured to abut the dorsal side of a forearm and span a wrist; and a hand support section connected to the forearm support section. The hand support section is configured to abut the dorsal side of the hand including the dorsal side of the length of a finger. The hand support section comprises a resilient material that, in response to bending, such as during flexion of the finger, generates a continuous restoring force in opposition to such bending, whereby the finger in flexion is urged toward extension. The forearm support section, in contrast, does not generate, in response to bending, a continuous restoring force in opposition to such bending, whereby a wrist may be selectively oriented in one of many fixed dispositions having varying degrees of flexion and extension relative to a forearm.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2005Publication date: March 8, 2007Applicant: SAEBO, INC.Inventors: John Farrell, Henry Hoffman, Ian Kovacevich
