  • Patent number: 6031037
Abstract: A stable, pourable, liquid composition contains 20 to 60% by weight of a blend of a water soluble high IV polymer and a water soluble low IV cationic coagulant polymer, is selected from polyamines, cationic dicyandiamide polymers and polymers of 70 to 100% ethylenically unsaturated cationic monomer with 0 to 30% by weight acrylamide, and contains 0.01 to 1 part by weight of a water soluble multi-hydroxy compound per part by weight of the coagulant polymer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 20, 1998
Date of Patent: February 29, 2000
Assignee: Ciba Specialty Chemicals Water Treatments Limited
Inventors: Mark Sirfaraz Ghafoor, Malcolm Skinner, Ian Michael Johnson
  • Patent number: 6001920
Abstract: A stable, pourable, liquid composition contains a blend of at least 8% (usually at least 15%) water soluble high IV cationic polymer and a water soluble low IV cationic coagulant polymer which preferably comprises polyamine, and water soluble inorganic salt.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 20, 1998
Date of Patent: December 14, 1999
Assignee: Ciba Specialty Chamicals Water Treatments Limited
Inventors: Mark Sirfaraz Ghafoor, Malcolm Skinner, Ian Michael Johnson
  • Patent number: 5684106
Abstract: Particulate superabsorbent polymeric material which is a partially neutralised polymer of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic monomer cross linked by a triethylenic or higher ethylenic cross linking agent, preferably tetra allyl ammonium chloride, absorbs above 15 grams, and often above 18 grams, aqueous saline per gram polymeric material in 60 minutes under a load of 63,000 dynes per square centimeter. The polymer preferably has surface cross linking caused by contacting the polymer particles with inorganic and/or covalent cross linking agent for the polymer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 23, 1995
Date of Patent: November 4, 1997
    Assignee: Allied Colloids Limited
Inventors: Ian Michael Johnson, Pauline Lesley Couldwell
