Patent number: 8379562Abstract: The present application generally relates to a public address system, and more particularly, to a paging relay controller within the public address system and methods thereof. In an illustrative embodiment, the paging relay is configured through a dynamic host configuration protocol server. After configuration, the paging relay can process incoming network streams. The paging relay can receive an incoming network stream from a source typically in the form of a unicast stream. The stream can be transported over a wide area network that commonly does not support multicast transmissions. After receiving the unicast stream, the paging relay converts the unicast stream into a multicast stream. The paging relay then rebroadcasts the multicast stream over a local area network to local subscribing devices. In one embodiment, the paging relay can also convert the unicast stream to line level audio for transmission to an analog system via the RCA phono port.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2010Date of Patent: February 19, 2013Inventor: Ian Pitts

Patent number: 7729651Abstract: A web cleaning system for a fuser system includes a web which is biased into contact with a rotating cylindrical member, such as a fuser roll, as the fuser roll is rotated about its axis of rotation. A lateral displacement system displaces the web, relative to the cylindrical member, in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the cylindrical member. In this way, regions of the web which have become contaminated with collected toner are shifted laterally, thus avoiding oversaturation of the web.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2005Date of Patent: June 1, 2010Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: John Poxon, Nicholas Baxter, Ian Pitts, Pieter Mulder, Martin Callis, Riley Brede

Patent number: 6522431Abstract: In a document handler associated with a scanner, such as for a digital copier or facsimile machine, an image-bearing sheet is moved over a window, through which the image is recorded by a photosensitive chip. When a spot of dirt attaches to the window, a streak results in the image data. This streaking problem is minimized by having the scan line viewed by the photosensitive chip move a small distance within the window of the document handler, so that any spot on the window will not be repeatedly exposed by the photosensitive chip.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1999Date of Patent: February 18, 2003Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Ian Pitts, Duncan I. Patent number: 6353718Abstract: A fusing apparatus for xerographic printing includes a fuser roll with two parallel lamps, or heating elements, therein. Each lamp defines a relatively hot end and a relatively cold end when electrical power is applied. The two lamps are disposed so that a hot end of one lamp is adjacent to the cold end of the other lamp. At power-up, power is applied to each lamp in a stair-step fashion, in which incremental increases in applied power for each lamp are staggered in time. Also during power-up, the lamps are connected in series, but the series connection is removed for a running condition. These features contribute to desirable anti-flicker effects of the whole apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2000Date of Patent: March 5, 2002Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: John Roxon, Ian Pitts
