  • Publication number: 20190071960
Abstract: Systems and method for injection a chemical into a wellbore. A chemical injection system may comprise a first valve, a chemical line, a pilot line, an injection line, and a backflow prevention valve disposable in the injection line. A production fluid recovery system may comprise a chemical injection system, a first valve, a pilot line, an injection line, a backflow prevention valve, a production tree, a wellhead, and production tubing. A method for actuating a valve in a chemical injection system may comprise pushing a fluid into a chemical line, pressurizing a pilot line to open a first valve, pushing the fluid through the first valve, increasing pressure in the pilot line to open a second valve, pushing the fluid through the second valve, pushing the fluid through a chemical line, and injecting fluid into a wellbore from the chemical line.

  • Publication number: 20190017368
Abstract: A system and method for a position sensor system in a well system. A position sensor system may comprise a downhole tool, a position sensor attached to the downhole tool such that resistance of the position sensor changes with position of the downhole tool, a first conductor attached to the position sensor, and a second conductor attached to the position sensor as an electrical ground. A method for determining position of a downhole tool may comprise taking a first measurement of a line resistance and moving the downhole tool, wherein moving the downhole tool increases or decreases the line resistance. The method may further comprise taking a second measurement of the line resistance, wherein the second measurement provides an indication of the position of the downhole tool.

  • Publication number: 20180202251
Abstract: A metal to metal seal and method including a first sealing member and a second sealing member, wherein the first and second sealing members are attached together to form a cylindrical sealing device; a first sealing surface and a second sealing surface on the first sealing member and the second sealing member, wherein the first and second metal sealing surfaces form a metal to metal seal with an internal cylindrical sealing surface and an external cylindrical sealing surface respectively; a transverse facing recess positioned between the first and second metal sealing surfaces; a nonmetal seal received in the transverse facing recess; and at least one pressure communication hole on each of the first and second sealing members, wherein the nonmetal seal is in fluid communication with the pressure communication holes, and a pressure differential across the sealing device energizes the nonmetal seal.

  • Publication number: 20180163521
Abstract: A flow control assembly having a body defining a central flow passage and one or more lateral flow openings that facilitate fluid communication between the central flow passage and an exterior of the body, and a flow trim positioned within the central flow passage and defining one or more flow orifices aligned with the lateral flow openings. A flow closure member is positioned within the central flow passage and movable between a closed position, where the lateral flow openings and the flow orifices are occluded to prevent fluid flow through the lateral flow openings, and an open position, where the lateral flow openings and the flow orifices are at least partially exposed to facilitate fluid flow through the lateral flow openings. A sacrificial nose radially interposes the flow closure member and the flow trim to mitigate erosion of the flow closure member.

  • Publication number: 20180051534
Abstract: A well system with an electrical control and sensing system includes a first conductor and a second conductor. A first switching circuit is coupled between the first conductor and the second conductor. The first switching circuit includes a first electrically powered device and a first diode coupled to the first electrically powered device. A sensor circuit is coupled between the first conductor and the second conductor. The sensor circuit includes a sensor and a sensor diode coupled to the sensor and configured to permit current flow through the sensor circuit from the second conductor to the first conductor.

  • Publication number: 20180016865
Abstract: A method of actuating a selected electrically powered device such as a solenoid operated valve (SOV) among a plurality of electrically powered devices coupled between a first conductor and second conductor includes applying a high voltage differential between the first conductor and the second conductor, the high voltage being at least as high as the breakover voltage of a switching thyristor coupled to the selected electrically powered devices. The method also includes applying a low voltage differential between the first conductor and the second conductor after applying the high voltage, the low voltage being lower than the breakover voltage of any switching thyristor coupled to the plurality of electrically powered devices.
