    Abstract: A gear type transmission comprising a casing, an input shaft supported by the casing, an output shaft supported by the casing and disposed coaxial to the input shaft, a counter shaft supported by the casing and disposed parallel to and axially offset from the input and output shafts, plural pairs of shift gears mounted on the input and counter shafts for engagement with each other, a pair of output gears on the output and counter shafts for engagement with each other, one gear of at least a low shift side of the plural pairs of shift gears fixed to the input shaft so as to rotate always simultaneously with the input shaft, the other gear of the low shift side of the plural pairs of shift gears attached to the counter shaft so as to rotate freely to the counter shaft, and a synchronized equipment mounted on the counter shaft and operating so as to make it rotate the other gear of the low shift side simultaneously with the counter shaft.

    Abstract: An erroneous gearshifting prevention mechanism includes a sliding lever mounted on a shift lever shaft supported on a case cover attached to a transmission case. The sliding lever has a projection including a slanted surface engageable with a reverse restriction pin rotatably and axially movably disposed in a boss integral with the case cover. When a shift lever mounted on the shift lever shaft is shifted in error from a fifth-speed gear position toward a reverse gear position, the projection is engaged by the reverse restriction pin and prevented from further movement. Any force imposed by the projection on the reverse restriction pin is directed by the slanted surface toward a relatively thick wall portion of the boss. The boss is thus protected against damage or breakage.

    Abstract: A shift lever support mechanism for a transmission comprises a shift lever having a partly spherical pivot body and a distal end extending from the partly spherical pivot body for engagement with a gear shifting actuator shaft of the transmission, a retainer member adapted to be mounted on the transmission casing and having a bore accommodating the spherical pivot body therein, the retainer member including a partly spherical seat supporting the partly spherical pivot body, the retainer member having a central opening through which the distal end extends, resilient means disposed in the bore in the retainer member for normally urging the partly spherical pivot body against the partly spherical seat, and a boot mounted on the shift lever and the retainer member and defining a space therein communicating with the bore in the retainer member.
