  • Patent number: 5645317
Abstract: A child seat apparatus such as a child safety seat for an automobile has head guards forwardly extending from both side edges of a backrest portion. The head guards are mounted on the backrest portion to be rotatable about axes extending substantially parallel to the direction of upward extension of the backrest portion or to be slideable or translatable in the width direction of the backrest portion. It is possible to reduce the spaceing distance between the pair of head guards for attaining a safe state when the child is asleep, and alternatively to increase the spacing distance between the head guards when the child is awake, to prevent the child from feeling cramped.

  • Patent number: 5494331
Abstract: A seat body forming a backrest and a seat section is made to move along an arcuate guide with respect to a base by a relative movement guiding mechanism which is formed by combination of an arcuate guide rail and a guide member moving along the guide rail. A seat section is rotatably mounted on the seat body and a coupling member is caused to engage a linear section of the guide rail, thereby maintaining the seat section at a substantially constant inclination regardless of any movement of the seat body. Thus, it is possible to maintain the seat section in a substantially horizontal state also when the angle of the backrest is adjusted, whereby the backrest can recline without interfering with a backrest of the car seat in an automobile. Thus, an uncomfortable position is avoided when a child sits in the safety seat the backrest of which is in an inclined state.

  • Patent number: 5490685
Abstract: A belt assembly is arranged on a back side of a backrest of a baby carriage, so that the angle of inclination of the backrest may be changed by adjusting of the length of the belt assembly. The belt assembly includes a first belt, a second belt, and a buckle which is attached to an end of the first belt and which has the second belt passing therethrough. The second belt has on its first major surface a plurality of engaging cavities. The buckle holds an operating member, which is cross-directionally or laterally movable across the second belt, and which is urged by a spring to move downwardly. The operating member is provided with engaging projections, which can selectively engage the engaging cavities. The length of the belt assembly is fixed when the engaging projections engage the engaging cavities, while the length of the belt assembly is rendered changeable when the former disengage from the latter.

  • Patent number: 5429419
Abstract: In a child safety seat for use in an automobile, a cushion member is provided along back surfaces of a crotch belt upwardly extending from a seat surface. A buckle is mounted on a free end of said crotch belt. Due to the rigidity of the cushion member, the crotch belt is made self-supporting, so that the crotch belt holds the buckle in the proper position and orientation Thus, a shoulder belt can be easily attached to or detached from the buckle. Moreover, the crotch belt is made more comfortable for the child.

  • Patent number: 5181735
Abstract: In order to allow bending of members defining the cross-directional size of a frame of a foldaway baby carriage in association with movement of members forming side surfaces of the frame, side bars rotate with respect to front legs to draw up front leg sleeves through front leg rigid links. At this time, guide pins provided in the front legs are moved in spirally extending guide grooves which are formed in the front leg sleeves, so that the front leg sleeves rotate due to the spiral extension of the guide grooves. Thus, a front leg coupling link extending across the pair of front leg sleeves is bent about bend points. A similar structure is employed in relation to a rear leg coupling member extending across a pair of rear legs and a side bar coupling member extending across a pair of side bars.
