  • Patent number: 4884625
Abstract: The method consists in that a flat work in an initial position is oriented horizontally between cooled mold beams. Plasma torches are arranged in line across the parallel side edges so that the anode spots of the extreme torches are confined by said edges of the work. By supplying a plasma forming gas and electric current to the plasma torches the work is heated with the formation of a metal pool which extends across the work from edge to edge. By relatively moving the work and the plasma torches in a horizontal plane and along the edges of the work movement of the metal pool over the surface thereof is effected and thereby a remelted layer as thick as the pool is deep, is obtained. The apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a sealed chamber containing a mold having two beams arranged in a horizontal plane and being parallel to one another.

  • Patent number: 4453348
Abstract: An apparatus for abrasive machining of workpieces comprises a base in the form of a carriage, a tool head having a spindle with an abrasive tool fastened thereto, an articulated four-bar linkage, a drive for rotating the abrasive tool and an actuating cylinder for urging the abrasive tool to a workpiece, the actuating cylinder being pivotally mounted on the base and a movable link thereof being pivotally connected to one link of the articulated four-bar linkage. The spindle of the tool head is arranged in a plane of the articulated four-bar linkage and connected to the drive for rotating the abrasive tool through a telescoping cardan shaft to thereby considerably reduce the bulk of the tool head movable parts and improve the tracing of the tool over the surface of the workpiece being machined.

  • Patent number: 4407095
Abstract: A device for abrasive cleaning of blanks shaped as bodies of revolution is intended to be used in the shops of metallurgical and engineering works for rough grinding of external surface of blanks. The device comprises two wheelheads with rotating tools (7), a movable table (2), a headstock (3) and a footstock (4), carrying centers (5) for the blank, and a blank rotation drive (17). On the table (2) there are mounted a stand (13) and the footstock (4) interconnected by two guides (15) disposed in a vertical plane passing through the line of the centers (5). The headstock (3) is mounted on the guides (15) to be displaced along them.
