  • Patent number: 6976780
Abstract: A light source device for preventing a light guide plate from being discolored due to a light supplied by a lamp is disclosed. At least one masking film that is made of a transition metal oxide is disposed in a pathway of the light that is emitted by the lamp and transmitted to a display unit to display images in order to cut off ultraviolet rays having particular wavelengths capable of discoloring the light guide plate. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the light guide plate, which is made of polyolefin resin composition to make it lightweight, from discoloring in yellow.

  • Publication number: 20050024554
Abstract: A method for illuminating a liquid crystal display device, a back-light assembly for performing the same and a liquid crystal display device using the same can improve the front luminance and production yield. Lights from a lamp is incident to a LCD panel side, which are then primarily diffused for a uniformity of the luminous flux of the incident lights. The luminous flux of the primarily diffused lights is condensed with respect to a first orientation component on a plane in parallel with the LCD panel, and then partially and secondarily diffused for extending a view angle of pixels of the LCD panel. After the luminous flux of the secondarily diffused lights is condensed with respect to a second orientation component perpendicular to the first orientation on the parallel plane, the condensed lights are illuminated onto the LCD panel.

  • Publication number: 20030090606
Abstract: Disclosed are a light guiding plate, a liquid crystal display device using the same, and a method for displaying an image thereof. The light reflection path is varied in the guiding plate, such that a portion of the light supplied to a bright region of an effective display area is shifted into a dark region, thereby obtaining a uniform brightness distribution over the entire effective display area. The liquid crystal display device can display information with improved brightness, so that the display quality is improved.

  • Publication number: 20030025853
Abstract: Disclosed are a light guide plate, a front illumination type liquid crystal display device using the same, and a method for displaying an image therein. A light reflection pattern is formed on a light reflection surface of the light guide plate so as to change an optical distribution and prevent the moire phenomenon. The light reflection pattern prevents the light from being leaked through a side of the light guide plate, so an effective display area is not divided into a bright area, a boundary area, and a dark area. It is possible to change the optical distribution and to prevent the moire phenomenon, so the liquid crystal display device can display an image with an improved brightness uniformity.
