  • Patent number: 4130456
Abstract: An apparatus and method for the continuous or semi-continuous removal of unreacted monomers from polymer suspension slurrys or latices to produce polymers with the least possible distribution of heat history.A polymer suspension liquor or latex is supplied to a vessel having open topped compartments positioned on a vertical shaft for rotation. A feed inlet for the polymer suspension liquor is mounted on the shaft to permit introduction of the polymer into each of the open topped compartments. A steam and/or inert gas is introduced at the bottom portion of each compartment to strip a monomer from the polymer.

  • Patent number: 4061844
Abstract: A dyestuff acceptor for synthetic resins such as polyvinyl chloride comprises as essential components (A) a copolymer of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer and an aminoalkyl acrylate compound represented by the general formula, ##STR1## wherein R.sub.I represents hydrogen or methyl group, R.sub.II and R.sub.III represent hydrogen or alkyl groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and n represents an integer from 1 to 4, and (B) a compound of a polyvalent metal selected from silicon, nickel, tin, cobalt, and iron, having at least one functional group selected from the group consisting of carboxyl group, thioalkoxy groups, alkyl groups, phenyl groups, and cyclopentadienyl group, the weight ratio of said component (A) to said component (B) being about 100 : 1 to 1 : 1.

  • Patent number: 4046727
Abstract: A thermosettable acrylic resin composition for powder coating comprising a mixture consisting essentially of (A) 100 parts by weight of an acrylic resin having a glass transition temperature of 10.degree. to 75.degree. C. and containing (a) 2 to 28 % by weight of a monomeric component containing epoxy group and (b) 0.1 to 8 % by weight of a monomeric component containing carboxyl or acid anhydride group, the gram equivalent ratio of said carboxyl groups to said epoxy groups contained in said acrylic resin being in the range from 1/2 to 1/20 (provided that the gram equivalent of an acid anhydride group is assumed to be equivalent to 2 gram equivalents of the carboxyl group) and (B) 0.5 to 25 parts by weight of a curing agent capable of crosslinking said acrylic resin (A). On being baked at 150.degree. to 220.degree. C. for 10 to 50 minutes, this composition gives a coating film excellent in strength, adherence, and surface leveling.
