    Abstract: An autonomous driving apparatus executes an autonomous driving control of a vehicle. When an override occurs during the autonomous driving control, switching from the autonomous driving control to manual driving is executed. A first determination condition is for determining that the autonomous driving control can be resumed, when the driver is estimated to have a continued operation intention, which is an intention to continue the manual driving, after the switching from the autonomous driving control to the manual driving is executed. A second determination condition is for determining that the autonomous driving control can be resumed, when the driver is estimated not to have the continued operation intention after the switching from the autonomous driving control to the manual driving is executed. The first determination condition is less likely to be met than the second determination condition.

The controller is configured to: determine whether or not the autonomous driving control can be started; and determine whether or not a tutorial can be started, the tutorial being an explanation of an operation by a driver required for switching from the autonomous driving control to manual driving. A determination condition for determining that the tutorial can be started is less likely to be met than a determination condition for determining that the autonomous driving control can be started. The tutorial is started when the tutorial switch is in ON state and the controller determines that the tutorial can be started.

In a case where the overtaking travel starts, the apparatus determines whether or not the overtaking target vehicle accelerates during the overtaking travel. In a case where it is determined that the overtaking target vehicle accelerates, the apparatus determines whether or not a front vehicle is present in front of the overtaking target vehicle. In a case where it is determined that the front vehicle is not present, the apparatus stops the overtaking travel of the host vehicle, and in a case where it is determined that the front vehicle is present, the apparatus continues the overtaking travel of the host vehicle under a predetermined condition.
