  • Patent number: 6846190
Abstract: Provided is a surface-mounted IC socket having a base housing and a gripping sheet. The base housing has a top surface and contacts. A slider moves over the top surface of the base housing and has an upper surface with a plurality of pin contact receiving holes arranged in the form of a matrix that receives pin contacts formed on an IC package that contact the contacts. Projecting parts having outer edges protrude from the upper surface. The gripping sheet has cuts corresponding to the projecting parts and is pasted on the upper surface such that the cuts correspond to the projecting parts.

  • Patent number: 6142798
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a cap housing for carrying electrical connectors to be mounted onto solder pads or through-holes on a printed circuit board or other circuitry. The cap housing has a plurality of electrical connector receiving cavities profiled to be relatively complementary in shape and of slightly larger dimension to the exterior profile of the electrical connector received within the cap housing. A floating arrangement of the electrical connector within the cap housing is thereby created which prevents coplanarity problems which contribute to non-filled or partially filled solder joints.

  • Patent number: 6074226
Abstract: An assembly for connecting an IC card to a printed circuit board includes a surface mounted connector and an ejector unit. The surface mounted connector has contacts arranged in an upper and a lower row at a narrow pitch to achieve a high degree of density of electronic components while maintaining high accuracy of contact positioning. Contacts are made by punching out from a metal sheet and have round contact sections for electrical connection with an IC card, termination sections with a portion for soldering connection to the printed circuit board, U-shaped retaining sections for insertion into contact holding openings of housing and supporting legs fitted in locking sections of the housing. The ejector unit is small but sufficiently strong and is simple to manufacture. It comprises a frame with left and right edges bent to form a guiding section wrapping around the side edges of the inserted IC card. Retaining members and a grounding contact for the card are also made by the same stamping operation.

  • Patent number: 5863213
Abstract: An adapter is removably mountable on one end of a memory card of predetermined length. The adapter has a protrusion which registers with a notch in the end of the memory card, and the adapter has a substitute notch which provides the memory card with an effective length that is equal to a specified longer length than the predetermined length. The adapter permits the memory card of predetermined length to be reliably mated with an electrical connector that is dimensioned to receive a memory card of the specified longer length.

  • Patent number: 5820390
Abstract: A first connector 30 mounted on an upper surface of a substrate 10 has a first contact 38 which contacts with a card 32 inserted from one end and extends through a through hole 22 of the substrate 10 at the other end. The first contact 38 is supported by the first connector 30 in a distant position from the substrate 10, and a connecting portion 38c thereof and the through hole 22 are spaced apart. A second connector 60 has a second contact 66 which contacts with an external connector 90 inserted from one end and the connecting portion 38c of the first contact 38 inserted from the other end. The substrate 10, the first and second connectors 30 and 60 are connected each other by connection between the connecting portion 38c and a spring 66c.

  • Patent number: 5577922
Abstract: A card-edge connector with an ejection mechanism used for making electrical connection between a mother board and a card, which is inserted between two guide posts and which can be ejected from the connector. The card inserted between the guide posts is ejected by means of the ejection mechanism. The card-ejection mechanism comprises a push bar and a cam member. The push bar can move rectilinearly inside a guide post to release the card with the cam member transforming the movement of the push bar into rotational movement, resulting in the application of an ejection force to a corner of the card.
