Abstract: A method (300) for receiving radio signal comprises the steps of: receiving (301, 303) first and a second received signal components using first and second antennas having different properties; processing (305) a received signal component to produce a sampled signal component; producing (307) at least one combined signal, which is a linear combination of at least two sampled signal components; and selecting (306) at least one set of complex values for coefficients of the linear combination so that a quality of a combined signal is at least equal to the quality of that sampled signal components having the best quality. Furthermore, the antennas are alternately connected (302, 304) via a switching element to radio frequency means so that the received signal components are interleaving and so that first and second parts of a certain piece of transmitted information are received with the first and second antennas, respectively. A corresponding receiver device is also presented.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining the position of an object to be searched for. The method applies a receiver (RX1) for the object to be searched substantially in the vicinity of the object to be searched, a receiver (RX2) for a searcher, with respect to which the position of the object to be searched is determined, and satellites (SV1-SV4) from which a code-modulated random spectrum signal is transmitted, and positioning data of the satellites are determined.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for acquiring a receiver (1) into a code modulated spread spectrum signal received by the receiver (1). In the method at least one replica code (r) is used which corresponds to a code used with the modulation having a pre-determined number of chips, and an examination phase is performed, in which a frequency shift of the signal within a selected frequency area is examined, and a code phase of the code used with the modulation is examined. In the method the frequency shift examination is divided into a first estimation phase and a second estimation phase, wherein in the first estimation phase the selected frequency area is divided into a first set of frequencies, and in the second estimation phase a second set of frequencies is examined nearby each frequency of the first set of frequencies.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reducing the effect of multipath propagation in a receiver (1) in which a code-modulated spread spectrum signal is received. In the method, at least one reference code (r(x)) corresponding to a code used in modulation is used to form at least two reference signals with different phases. Correlation between a received signal and each reference signal is performed to form correlation values. The method also comprises the steps of forming a divider function and performing at least a deconvolution step, in which a first time-to-frequency transformation is performed on the corelation results to form first transform results, and said first transform results are divided by the values of said divider function to form a division result. The invention also relates to a receiver (1) for receiving a code modulated spread spectrum signal, and an electronic device (24) comprising at least a positioning receiver (1) with means (2) for receiving a code modulated spread spectrum signal.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for synchronizing a receiver (1) with a transmitted code-modulated spread spectrum signal. The method uses at least one reference code (r(x)), which corresponds to a code used in the modulation. The frequency shift of the transmitted signal and the code phase of the code used in the modulation are determined in the method.
