  • Patent number: 11914782
Abstract: In some implementations, a computing device can be configured to automatically turn off notifications when generating a notification would cause a disturbance or be unwanted by a user. The device can be configured with quiet hours during which notifications that would otherwise be generated by the computing device can be suppressed. In some implementations, quiet hours can be configured as a time period with a start time and an end time. In some implementations, quiet hours can be derived from application data. For example, calendar data, alarm clock data, map data, etc. can be used to determine when quiet hours should be enforced. In some implementations, the device can be configured with exceptions to quiet hour notification suppression. In some implementations, the user can identify contacts to which the quiet hours notification suppression should not be applied.

  • Publication number: 20240061557
Abstract: An electronic device, while displaying a first user interface, detects a swipe gesture, and in response, if the swipe gesture meets first criteria, including a criterion that is met when the swipe gesture starts at a first edge of the touch-sensitive display and moves away from the first edge, displays a reduced scale representation of the first user interface and concurrently displays a reduced scale representation of a second user interface not displayed immediately prior to detecting the swipe gesture. While concurrently displaying the reduced scale representation of the first user interface and the reduced scale representation of the second user interface, in response to detecting a tap gesture at a location corresponding to the second user interface, the device ceases to display the first user interface and displays a larger scale representation of the second user interface than the reduced scale representation of the second user interface.

  • Patent number: 11893233
Abstract: An electronic device, while displaying a user interface with a favored navigation axis, detects first movement of a contact on a touch-sensitive surface that includes a first component along the favored navigation axis and a second component in a direction different from the favored navigation axis. In response, if first movement meets direction-lock termination criteria, the device moves one or more user interface objects in two dimensions in accordance with both components of the first movement; and if first movement does not meet the direction-lock termination criteria, the device moves user interface objects in one dimension along the favored navigation axis in accordance with the first component of the first movement. After meeting the direction-lock termination criteria, in response to continued second movement of the contact, the device moves user interface objects in accordance with the second movement without regard to whether the second movement meets the direction-lock termination criteria.
