Abstract: The present invention relates to an absorbent article (1), such as a diaper, a pants-type diaper, an incontinence guard, a sanitary napkin or like article, comprising an absorbent body (2) of generally elongated shape and having two mutually opposing end-edges (7, 8) and two mutually opposing side edges (9, 10); a liquid-permeable top sheet (3) which is placed on one side of the absorbent body (2) and which is intended to lie proximal to the wearer in use, and a liquid-impermeable bottom sheet (4) placed on the other side of the absorbent body (2). The inventive article is characterized in that longitudinally extending elastic elements (25-28), for instance bands, threads or the like, are mounted across the absorbent body (2) close to respective side-edges (9, 10); and in that the elastic elements are firmly joined to the absorbent body (2) and entrain the body in the regions around the elastic elements (25-28) to form leakage barriers.

Abstract: An absorption body intended for disposable articles such as diapers, sanitary napkins or the like and comprising highly absorbent material. A distinguishing feature of an absorption body made in accordance with the invention is that there is included therein a first layer intended to be placed against the wearer's body and which is soft, with a bulk exceeding 10 cm.sup.3 /g, preferably more than 13 cm.sup.3 /g, and at least one second layer which is heavily compressed to a bulk of less than 10 cm.sup.3 /g; and that the highly absorbent material is applied in the heavily compressed layer or layers.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent article such as a diaper, a sanitary napkin, an incontinence protection garment, a wound dressing or the like has a liquid impermeable surface layer (2) and a liquid permeable surface layer (4) encasing an absorbent core (5) therebetween, and elastic members (11-14) applied thereto. The liquid permeable layer (4) is composed of at least two separate webs (3, 4) joined together by a bonding pattern constituted by substantially parallel bonding lines at least crossing the elastic members (11-14) in order to cooperate with these members, whereby the liquid permeable surface layer (4) on its side turned away from the absorbent core (5) air-filled channels and a soft, wavy surface.

Abstract: Liquid-absorbing disposable articles, such as diapers, sanitary napkins and like products. The invention is characterized in that elastication (4) is used to shape the article to its intended form.
