  • Publication number: 20110263909
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reprocessing aircraft de-icing agents comprising glycol, wherein (1) the used aircraft de-icing agents are collected in a suitable device, (2) the used aircraft de-icing agent is subsequently brought to a propylene glycol content of between 55 and 75% by weight without prior separating of solid or suspended impurities by expelling water at increased temperature, (3) the concentrated used aircraft de-icing agent thus obtained is transported to a central reprocessing system, where the same is subjected to a fine distillation, and wherein (4) propylene glycol is produced as a distillate of the fine distillation.

  • Patent number: 7053031
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of a composition for cleaning the outside of a means of transport. The composition contains component a) at least one tertiary amino oxide of formula R1 R2 R3 NO, whereby R1 represents an alkylamidoalkyl, alkenylamidoalkyl, alkoxypropylamidoalkyl or alkenylamidoalkyl group having between 8–18 carbon atoms, R2 and R3 represent, independently from each other, low molecular alkyl radicals or hydroxyethyl radicals or hydroxypropyl radicals, and component b) at least one alkali metal salt of polyasparaginic acid having a molecular weight of between 5,000 g/mol–50,000 g/mol, or a polyglutaminic acid having a molecular weight of between 5,000 g/mol–50,000 g/mol, or a mixture of both substances, whereby the weight ratio of the components a:b is between 10:1 and 3000:1. The cleaner of the present invention effectively removes dirt and comprises environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors.

  • Patent number: 6921495
Abstract: The invention relates to a deicing or anti-icing composition comprising at least 0.01 to 0.5% wt of at least one alkali metal salt of polyaspartic or polyglutamic acids or a mixture thereof, having a total molecular weight of 5,000 to 50,000 g/mole as a flame retardant. The invention also relates to a method for deicing or preventing the formation of ice on a substrate by applying a composition to the substrate, wherein the composition comprises a flame retardant comprising alkali metal salts of polyaspartic or polyglutamic acids, or a mixture thereof, having a total molecular weight of between 5,000 and 50,000 g/mole, in proportions of 0.01 to 0.5 wt % in relation to the deicing or anti-icing composition. A method of making a deicing or anti-icing composition having a reduced electrochemical activity is also disclosed.
