Patent number: 9479329Abstract: It should not be possible for control units for motor vehicles to be exchanged between individual motor vehicles by unauthorized persons. For a motor vehicle it should, therefore, be rendered possible for individual functionalities of a control unit to be unblocked only for a specific motor vehicle. For this purpose, a first cryptographic key and a second cryptographic key are stored in a control unit. A cryptographic device is designed to encrypt a first message initially by one of the cryptographic keys, subsequently to encrypt a result of the encryption by the other cryptographic key and, finally, to provide a result of the second encryption as third cryptographic key for an encryption and/or decryption of a further message. A method configures a control unit in a motor vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2012Date of Patent: October 25, 2016Assignee: AUDI AGInventors: Stefan Geiger, Ingo Ledendecker, Carsten Schmal

Patent number: 9246671Abstract: In a method for operating a motor vehicle, encrypted data is exchanged between a sensor and a control device via a bus. An item of information required for decrypting the exchanged data is provided by a user of the motor vehicle by way of a portable device. The encrypted data includes measurement values of the sensor which relate to an operating state of a component of the motor vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2013Date of Patent: January 26, 2016Assignee: AUDI AGInventors: Tom Brahner, Ingo Ledendecker, Stephan Maas

Patent number: 9002540Abstract: A method for operating an authorization device for keyless entry and starting of a vehicle with a portable ID transmitter that has a motion sensor. A wireless communication link for interchanging data messages can be set up between the authorization device and the ID transmitter. Keyless entry to the vehicle is permissible only when an instant of last movement of the ID transmitter, as captured by the motion sensor, is within a stipulated interval of time. The authorization device permits keyless starting of the vehicle only when keyless entry to the vehicle has previously been permitted.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2012Date of Patent: April 7, 2015Assignee: Audi AGInventor: Ingo Ledendecker

Patent number: 8880280Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting vehicle data in the form of kilometer readings of a motor vehicle (1) to a memory element (7) having a counter, which memory element is removable from the motor vehicle. At time intervals, the kilometer reading of the motor vehicle is transmitted to the memory element (7), and after each kilometer reading transmission, the difference between the last transmitted and the newly transmitted kilometer reading is added up in the counter.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2010Date of Patent: November 4, 2014Assignee: Audi AktiengesellschaftInventors: Stephan Maas, Ingo Ledendecker

Patent number: 8217774Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling a locking system of a motor vehicle wherein, as the states of the locking system, there is an unlocked state, a locked state from which it is possible to switch to the unlocked state via at least a first operating element inside the vehicle, and a security state in which by simply activating a first operating element it is not possible to switch to the unlocked state. The aim of the invention is to propose a method that allows a person inside the motor vehicle to still leave the motor vehicle despite user activation of the security state without substantially easing the opening of the motor vehicle from the outside by an unauthorized third party. Four concepts are proposed that can all be implemented in combination to great benefit. They enable a person still inside the vehicle to leave the motor vehicle upon activation of the security state.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2009Date of Patent: July 10, 2012Assignees: Audi AG, Audi Electronics Venture GmbHInventors: Björn Elias, Ruben Maier, Roland Haberl, Ingo Ledendecker, Martin Deinhard, Andreas Stüber

Patent number: 5417471Abstract: The invention relates to the bodywork of a passenger car having an electronics housing formed integral therewith. The bodywork includes an A post, a front suspension strut mount disposed in front of and more towards the longitudinal center of the vehicle than the A post, and a front fender brace. According to the invention, a front suspension strut bearer connects the front suspension strut mount to a middle portion of the A post at about the height of the apron wall. A generally triangular pocket-like space is formed by the curved outward suspension strut bearer, the front fender brace, and the underlying wheel arch. According to the invention, the walls of this pocket-like space form a housing well suitable for use as an electronics housing. The housing walls are firmly secured to the adjacent parts of the bodywork.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1993Date of Patent: May 23, 1995Assignee: Audi AGInventors: Gundolf Kreis, Ingo Ledendecker, Hans J.
