Abstract: Configuring compute nodes in a parallel computer using remote direct memory access (‘RDMA’), the parallel computer comprising a plurality of compute nodes coupled for data communications via one or more data communications networks, including: initiating, by a source compute node of the parallel computer, an RDMA broadcast operation to broadcast binary configuration information to one or more target compute nodes in the parallel computer; preparing, by each target compute node, the target compute node for receipt of the binary configuration information from the source compute node; transmitting, by each target compute node, a ready message to the target compute node, the ready message indicating that the target compute node is ready to receive the binary configuration information from the source compute node; and performing, by the source compute node, an RDMA broadcast operation to write the binary configuration information into memory of each target compute node.

Abstract: In at least one embodiment, a method and system for accumulating geospatial location data and biomedical data for an individual during his/her travels is provided. In at least one embodiment, a device uses at least one location signal to determine geospatial data and receives a plurality of biomedical signals with both data types being stored for possible later retrieval for providing a diagnosis for the individual if a medical condition arises.

Abstract: Techniques are described for scheduling received tasks in a data center in a manner that accounts for operating costs of the data center. Embodiments of the invention generally include comparing cost-saving methods of scheduling a task to the operating parameters of completing a task—e.g., a maximum amount of time allotted to complete a task. If the task can be scheduled to reduce operating costs (e.g., rescheduled to a time when power is cheaper) and still be performed within the operating parameters, then that cost-saving method is used to create a workload plan to implement the task. In another embodiment, several cost-saving methods are compared to determine the most profitable.
