  • Patent number: 7537337
Abstract: Eyewear has at least one lens. A groove extends around an outer peripheral surface of the lens. The groove receives a wire. The wire has a first end and a second end joined by a tensioning assembly. The tensioning assembly has a first member and a second member that move toward an abutting position. When the first member and the second member are brought toward each other, tension on the wire increases and the wire secures the lens in position.

  • Publication number: 20090073379
Abstract: Eyewear has a wire that encircles each of a pair of lenses respectively. A tensioning assembly can adjust and tension the wire. Two variations of tensioning assemblies are shown. One tensioning assembly has a spool on which a portion of the wire is wound. Another tensioning assembly has an insert that pulls a portion of the wire inwardly within a projection that extends outward from the lens.

  • Publication number: 20090021690
Abstract: Eyewear comprises a lens. The lens comprises a viewing portion and a connecting portion. The lens comprises a peripheral surface. The viewing portion of the lens is defined inside of the peripheral surface of the lens and the connecting portion of the lens is defined outside of the peripheral surface of the lens. The connecting portion of the lens comprises a mounting bore. An eyewear frame member covers at least a portion of the connecting portion of the lens and an eyewear frame connecting member extends through a portion of the eyewear frame member and into the mounting bore of the connecting portion of the lens such that the eyewear frame member is secured to the connecting portion of the lens by the eyewear frame connecting member.

  • Patent number: 7249843
Abstract: Rimless eyewear features a wire that encircles a lens. Systems are provided for selectively increasing or decreasing a tensile load on the wire to facilitate assembly and maintenance of the eyewear. An adjusting screw, different wire securement positions, and/or adjustment shims provide easy tension adjustment of the wire and secure the eye lens in a predetermined position and orientation.
