  • Patent number: 6980934
Abstract: The present invention is in the field of manufacturing, processing and design, and also packaging. Nesting is the process of placing objects together with minimal spaces between them. The invention is described below in two forms. The first form, set forth in Part I below, is directed to methods and systems for nesting of two dimensional (2D) objects in a target plane. The second form, set forth in Part II below, is directed to methods and systems for nesting three dimensional (3D) objects in a target volume. The specific details of the preferred embodiments are set forth in those respective parts.

  • Patent number: 5349811
Abstract: A system for reducing the formation of NO.sub.x pollutants during the combustion of liquid fuel in a gas turbine engine. The system comprises introducing an externally modulated, rapidly-pulsed, oscillated or sinusoidal fuel flow delivery rate (generically referred to as "modulated") to produce a controlled degree of combustor air input flow oscillation and bulk flow oscillation within the combustor which enhances the fuel-air mixing rate and homogeneity within the combustor, decreases the residence time of transition fuel/air mixtures prone to NO.sub.x formation, and substantially decreases the NO.sub.x concentration in the resulting combustion gas product without creating a net pressure gain throughout the combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 4210041
Abstract: A plurality of identical, irregular, non-polygonal pieces, such as motorcycle silhouette games pieces, are cut from flat stock of predetermined width and indefinite length with minimum waste of the stock, by laying out a gang cutter "pattern", "marker" or "stencil" in a sequence of steps comprising (1) "boxing in" the curved outline of one non-polygonal piece to form a plane polygonal figure of three sides or more, (2) combining two such polygonal figures into a parallelogram, (3) nesting any protuberance in one piece into any recess in the other piece to reduce the area of the parallelogram (4) laying out a plurality of said parallelograms side by side across the width of the stock and (5) successively cutting the resulting pattern from the stock by a gang cutter arranged in the pattern.
