  • Publication number: 20060279209
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved display panel which is large in size and small in thickness without incurring any trouble, a self-emission panel sealing member, and a method of manufacturing the self-emission panel, by avoiding an undesired contact between a self-emission element section formed on a substrate (on one hand) and a sealing member or a desiccating member disposed within a sealing space (on the other), as well as by ensuring an adequate strength for the sealing member. A self-emission panel is fabricated by forming a self-emission element section on a substrate, followed by bonding together the substrate and a sealing member so as to form a sealing space, thereby allowing the self-emission element section to be disposed within the sealing space. In particular, the sealing member is adhesively supported on the substrate along an annular support portion arranged around the self-emission element section.

  • Publication number: 20060214569
Abstract: It is an object of the invention to avoid a contact between desiccating member(s) provided within a cover and an organic EL laminated body. An organic EL panel includes a substrate and an organic EL laminated body formed on the substrate. The organic EL laminated body includes a first electrode, an organic layer, and a second electrode, laminated one above another, with the organic layer interposed between the pair of electrodes, thereby forming an organic EL device. Further, a cover is bonded to the substrate by virtue of an adhesive agent, thereby covering the organic EL laminated body with the cover so as to protect the same from the outside air. Moreover, a desiccating member is provided within the cover 16 and separated from the organic EL laminated body. A concave portion U is formed on the exposed side (facing the organic EL laminated body) of the desiccating member.

  • Publication number: 20050212408
Abstract: A voltage from a constant voltage source for a voltage of V1 is configured to be supplied to an anode line drive circuit 2. Then, a current larger than that, by which the current image is displayed, is supplied from the constant voltage source for a voltage of V1 to EL elements E11 through Enm by connecting all of drive switches Sa1 through Sam in the anode line drive circuit 2 to the side of the constant voltage source for a voltage of V1, and by connecting all of scanning switches Sk1 through Skm in a cathode-line scanning circuit 3 to the side of the ground potential GND. A leak phenomenon generated in an organic EL element can be rehabilitated, or generation of the leak phenomenon can be prevented by such a large current supplied on a regular basis.

  • Publication number: 20050206303
Abstract: An organic EL panel which is formed by controlling the thickness of a lower electrode while at the same time improving the surface flatness of the lower electrode which serves as a support substrate for an organic layer. Films are formed through several times of film-formation on a substrate and polished to form the lower electrode serving as a substrate for an organic layer with a polished surface. In this case, a first film formation produces a first film, while second and later film formations produce other film layers which is thicker than the first film layer. Further, the formed films are polished by a thickness larger than the total thickness of films formed during the second and later film formations, thereby forming the polished surface.

  • Publication number: 20040189191
Abstract: It is an object of the invention to improve an outer appearance and the contrast of an organic EL display panel. An organic EL display panel includes a cover which has a transparency and is provided for enclosing organic EL device(s) formed on a substrate having a transparency. The display panel has transmission vision preventing means formed by providing at least colored portions in the cover. By virtue of non-luminescent areas located on the outside of the luminescent area, it is possible to prevent a poor outer appearance caused by the interior of the display panel visible from the outside of the panel.

  • Publication number: 20040183435
Abstract: In forming luminescent areas of organic EL devices of an organic EL display panel, it is necessary to prevent a display performance degradation in the vicinity of outermost edges of display area of the organic EL display panel. A film formation mask is used to form a film pattern of an organic layer containing a luminescent layer, in a manner such that the luminescent area formation sections can be covered. The film formation mask has a plurality of openings according to the film pattern, and false openings formed outside the area containing the openings but not useful in forming organic layer for forming luminescent areas. False openings are formed in positions corresponding to the outside of display area, and forms false patterns of an organic layer on the inner side of the adhesive area.

  • Publication number: 20040090401
Abstract: There is provided an organic EL display device comprising: an underlying layer, including at least one layer formed of organic materials, formed on a substrate; organic EL elements formed thereon; and each leading electrode from the organic EL element for an electrical interconnection to an electrode of an interconnection object. In the display device, each connecting region is formed by removing the layers formed of organic materials, of the underlying layer, at a location of a thermocompression bonding for the electrical interconnection. This enables a reliable electrical interconnection between the leading electrode and the electrode of the interconnection object, thereby allowing a good display performance of each organic EL element to be kept.

  • Publication number: 20040012330
Abstract: An organic electoroluminescent display device includes organic electroluminescent films, each containing organic electroluminescent materials and sandwiched by a pair of electrodes, each forming a plurality of light-emitting elements above a substrate. Each pixel of the display device is composed of two different colors light-emitting elements, and the chromaticity of each color is controlled by changing the concentration of organic electroluminescent materials or by adding foreign materials the reto. For example, if the chromaticity of the red light-emitting element is set to a value shifted toward green side, various colors including white can be produced by mixing this red with blue of the blue light-emitting element. Then, the organic electroluminescent display device can produce high-quality quasi-color images by mixing two colors of which chromaticity values are properly controlled. By virtue of a two-color structure, the aperture ratio becomes high and the manufacturing process becomes simple.
