  • Patent number: 8790420
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for producing a high-quality reduced metal using an upgraded coal as a carbonaceous material to be incorporated. In the method, coal is first aged by heating in an organic solvent to produce upgraded coal for metallurgy having higher thermal plasticity than that of the coal. Then, a mixture of the upgraded coal for metallurgy and a metal oxide-containing raw material is agglomerated by an agglomerator, and the resultant agglomerates are reduced by heating in a furnace and then melted by further heating to produce a reduced melt. The reduced melt is cooled and solidified in the furnace to produce a reduced solid. The reduced solid is discharged to the outside of the furnace and slag is removed using a screen to recover a metal as a reduced metal.

  • Publication number: 20130283902
Abstract: A collision test apparatus includes actuators that move a vehicle structural member toward the side of a carrying unit on which a dummy is carried. The actuators can be driven independently of each other. Therefore, the actuators move the vehicle structural member at respectively different driving speeds. In other words, the collision test apparatus does not simply move the vehicle structural member such that the vehicle structural member collides with the dummy, but also causes the vehicle structural member to collide with the dummy while moving the vehicle structural member at different speeds in different positions.

Abstract: An information recording medium includes a track on which a data sequence is recordable, and at least one of a PIC area in which a recording condition for recording the data sequence on the track is recorded. The recording condition includes a parameter for adjusting a position of a trailing end of a cooling pulse in a recording pulse waveform for forming the recording mark. The parameter is classified using a combination of a length of the recording mark, a length of a first space located adjacently previous to the recording mark and a length of a second space located adjacently subsequent to the recording mark. A recording apparatus is provided for recording a data sequence on an information recording medium based on the recording condition recorded on the information recording medium. • Patent number: 8426674
Abstract: Silkworms which have (i) a DNA encoding a transcriptional regulator operably linked downstream of a promoter of a DNA encoding a protein specifically expressed in the silk gland and (ii) a DNA encoding TRACP5 operably linked downstream of a target promoter of the transcriptional regulator were produced. The result showed that active TRACP5b was produced from the silkworms. This means that TRACP5 produced from the silk gland of the silkworms undergoes processing in the silk gland that is similar to the processing taking place at bone resorption sites.

  • Patent number: 8363530
Abstract: According to the present invention, a first error pattern caused by a shift of a bit relating to a recording mark or a space of a shortest length and a second error pattern caused by an edge shift of the recording mark are used. For each of a plurality of error patterns, a pattern shift obtained by normalizing a difference between a square of a Euclidean distance between the error pattern and a reproduction signal and a square of a Euclidean distance between a correct pattern and the reproduction signal, using a square of a Euclidean distance between the correct pattern and the error pattern is detected. Length and phase errors are calculated by a sum of, or a difference between, a first pattern shift amount obtained by normalization performed using the first error pattern and a second pattern shift amount obtained by normalization performed using the second error pattern.
