  • Patent number: 5358793
Abstract: A PTC device has two electrodes affixed to opposed surfaces. The electrodes consist of a metal foil having a conductive layer on their surfaces that contact the PTC material. The conductive layer has a thermal coefficient of expansion intermediate between the thermal coefficients of expansion of the metal foil and the PTC material. The intermediate value of the thermal coefficient of expansion of the conductive layer prevents peeling of the electrodes off the PTC element due to the variation of the temperature of the PTC device resulting from repeated voltage applications. In addition, improved adhesion of the electrodes to the PTC material reduces resistance changes after repeated temperature cycling.

  • Patent number: 5165371
Abstract: This choke device is characterized in that a starting pump 49 for supplying the fuel in a fuel tank 25 by suction to a starting nozzle port 41, is driven by a fuel motor 53. Starting of the engine is executed by the use of a starting motor or a recoil starter, by supplying the fuel in the fuel tank 25 to the starting nozzle port 41 through sucking of the fuel with the starting fuel pump 49 which is turned by the fuel motor 53, thereby facilitating the ignition by augmenting the concentration of the mixed gas.

  • Patent number: 5161489
Abstract: To change a rotational direction of a working apparatus such as a nut runner, rotational positions of a crankshaft at the highest voltages of primary currents in normal and reverse rotating operations are symmetrically arranged in relation to a rotational position corresponding the top dead center of a piston, and the rotational positions of the highest voltages are set before the rotational position corresponding the top dead center of the piston. In rotating the engine either in the normal or the reverse direction, the voltage of a primary current of an electromotive coil 97 reaches the highest value at a predetermined rotational position before the top dead center of the piston 7. An ignition unit 177 detects that a predetermined voltage close to the highest voltage is attained or that a predetermined voltage drop from the highest voltage has occurred, to short-circuit the primary current and generate a high-voltage current in a secondary circuit.
