  • Patent number: 8892337
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting imbalance abnormality in an air-fuel ratio between cylinders in a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine according to the present invention increases a fuel injection quantity to a predetermined target cylinder to detect imbalance abnormality in an air-fuel ratio between cylinders at least based upon a rotation variation of the target cylinder after increasing the fuel injection quantity. The increase in the fuel injection quantity is carried out in the middle of performing the post-fuel-cut rich control. Since timing of the post-fuel cut rich control is used to increase the fuel injection quantity, the exhaust emission deterioration due to abnormality detection execution can be prevented as much as possible.

  • Publication number: 20140095053
Abstract: An inter-cylinder air-fuel ratio variation abnormality detection apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus determines imbalance of an air-fuel ratio among the cylinders based on a difference between index values correlated with crank angular velocities detected in a set of opposite cylinders belonging to different banks and having crank angles different from one another by 360°; and carries out an air-fuel ratio feedback process for controlling an amount of injected fuel for each of the banks, wherein the apparatus comprises a correction unit correcting, before determining the air-fuel ratio imbalance, the difference between the index values in a direction of combustion improvement for opposite cylinders that are opposite to cylinders belonging to a bank identical to a bank of a cylinder with the most deviating index value from a standard value among all the cylinders and being other than the cylinder with the most deviating index value.

  • Patent number: 8548718
Abstract: In an abnormality detection apparatus and an abnormality detection method for a construction in which each of cylinders is provided with a plurality of fuel injection valves, if it is discerned that a cause of the inter-cylinder variation abnormality exists in one of the fuel injection valves, an air/fuel ratio fluctuation parameter as an index value that represents the degree of the abnormality is calculated by normalizing the air/fuel ratio fluctuation parameter regarding that fuel injection valve on the basis of the injection proportion used when the parameter is measured.

  • Publication number: 20130144510
Abstract: A fuel injection amount control apparatus includes an air-fuel ratio sensor which is disposed between an exhaust gas merging portion HK and an upstream catalyst. The control apparatus performs a feedback correction on an amount of fuel to be injected by the fuel injection valve in such a manner that an air-fuel ratio represented by an output value of an upstream air-fuel ratio sensor becomes equal to a target air-fuel ratio which is set at stoichiometric air-fuel ratio. The control apparatus obtains an air-fuel ratio imbalance indicating value, which becomes larger as a difference in air-fuel ratio of each of the mixtures supplied to each of the combustion chambers among the cylinders becomes larger, and performs an increasing correction to the amount of fuel to be injected by the injection valve in such a manner that an air-fuel ratio becomes a richer air-fuel ratio than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio as the obtained air-fuel ratio imbalance indicating value becomes larger.

  • Publication number: 20130038625
Abstract: The invention provides a method and an apparatus for displaying anti-aliased graphic objects. Anti-aliasing in prior art is often concentrated at the relationship between foreground object and background view, and such a case where plural objects reside in the same pixel is not necessarily put in the consideration. The present invention offers to provide “colored” subpixels for each pixel thereto render a plurality of anti-aliased graphic objects together in the same frame. Since the colored subpixels are generated with two different memories, they cannot be alpha blended. The transparent representation is to be processed with determination of active subpixels smaller in number than the number of subpixels, thereby shrinking the coverage of rendering objects in respective pixels. These active subpixels are selected through bit masks, and plural bit masks are provided to control transparent levels of graphic objects.

  • Publication number: 20130038624
Abstract: The invention provides a method and an apparatus for displaying anti-aliased graphic objects. Subpixels are generated with two different memories including the one for alpha masking and the other for color storage, and function as a small virtual bitmap in which each position (i.e. subpixel) is set to be stainable on a one-off basis at every frame update. If plural objects share an identical pixel, the virtual bitmap for the pixel is to be filled gradually in forward-to-rearward order, reflecting the accurate objects' intensities. Transparent representation is processed via determination of active subpixels smaller in number than the number of subpixels, thereby shrinking the coverage of rendering objects in respective pixels. These active subpixels are selected with bit masks, and plural bit masks are provided to control transparent levels of rendering objects.

  • Publication number: 20110277451
Abstract: The “imbalance index value” representing the magnitude of the difference among the cylinder-by-cylinder air-fuel ratios (imbalance of air-fuel ratios among cylinders) is acquired based on the output value of the air-fuel ratio sensor disposed above the catalyst. The execution of the emission reduction control is “limited” when the magnitude of the imbalance of air-fuel ratios among cylinders represented by the imbalance index value is the first degree or more, and less than the second degree which is larger than the first degree, and is “prohibited” when it is the second degree or more. As the emission reduction control, a purge control, an EGR control, an Al incremental control, a cold VVT control, a catalyst warm-up delay angle control, an SCV control, and the like can be exemplified. Misfire due to the execution of emission reduction control are suppressed, when the imbalance of air-fuel ratios among cylinders occurs.
