  • Publication number: 20040260035
Abstract: The strain-hardening characteristics and melt rheology of thermoplastic resins including crystallizable polyester resins are modified by blending with a dendrimeric modifier. Blends comprising PET resins and up to about 2 wt. % of a dendrimer have increased melt strengths and exhibit a reduction in strain-hardening parameter, reflected in a lower strain level at the onset of strain hardening. Blends further comprise PET resins and a component comprising a ratio of dendrimer modifier to purified terephthalic acid.

  • Publication number: 20040026827
Abstract: Precrystallizing an amorphous crystallizable thermoplastic article, such as an amorphous polyethylene terephthalate article, by heating to thermally induce crystallinity, then orienting at a temperature that is preferably greater than the crystallizing temperature, provides articles having substantially improved thermal dimensional stability together with high tensile modulus properties. The process is particularly useful in the production of containers suitable for use in hot-fill applications.

  • Patent number: 4839095
Abstract: A drilling fluid includes a water soluble polymer such as a sulfonated amino-formaldehyde and/or methyl cellulose or polyvinyl alcohol in addition to water, bentonite and a weighting agent such as barite. And, these drilling fluids have improved heat stability and are useful for drilling a borehole into a subterranean formation using conventional drilling equipment.
