  • Patent number: 5833119
Abstract: A container comprises a tubular body having a one end closed by an end member provided with a discharge opening receiving a cap and the other end being closed by a flattened second end. The end member is subdivided into a first portion containing the projection having the discharge opening and a second portion more pliable than the first portion so that the second portion can be collapsed into the first portion to applied pressure on the remaining contents in the end member during emptying the contents of the tube. Preferably, the tubular body has a pair of weakened zones extending the longitudinal length from adjacent the flat end member flattened into the end member to subdivide the body into two elongated portions which are aligned with the first and second portions of the end member. The container is particularly useful in a dispenser having a flattening member which progressively flattens the container to cause discharging of the contents thereof.

  • Patent number: 5813572
Abstract: A dispenser particularly useful for dispensing toothpaste includes a tubular body closed at one end and having an opening for receiving the neck portion of a toothpaste tube extending therefrom, the dispenser includes an arrangement for squeezing the contents of the tube out the discharge opening including a piston movable in an axial direction of the tubular body. The arrangement includes the piston having a pair of oppositely extending projections that extend through parallel extending slots in the tubular body and are engaged in an internal threaded track of a sleeve received on the tubular body so that rotation of the sleeve will cause the piston to move along the slots and squeeze the contents of the tube towards the discharge opening of the tube.

  • Patent number: 5251758
Abstract: A combination food container and utensil comprises the container having a compartment for holding the food and an opening through which the compartment may be accessed, a lid for covering the opening, an elongated utensil having a handle portion, a food holding portion and a length less than the cross dimensions of the lid, a bubble arrangement engaging an upper surface of the lid and coacting therewith to form an enclosure for receiving and holding a utensil on the lid, and the combination including an indicator to enable a visually impaired person to determine the contents of either the enclosure or the compartment without requiring the use of the visual senses. Preferably, the indicator includes the bubble being formed of a pliable material, such as aluminum or synthetic plastic, which is moldable and allows a person to determine the type of utensil by feel. The indicator can also include information fields which are read by the sense of touch and contain indicia, such as braille.

  • Patent number: 4877359
Abstract: An adjustable stop member, comprises three parts which are mounted in longitudinal alignment, with the overall length of the aligned parts being adjustable. The first part is an elongate cylindrical member which has one closed end and a threaded, elongate bore extending inwardly from the other end. The second part is an elongate rod which has external threads for mutual engagement with the internal threads of the first part. The second part further has a flat extending longitudinally along the surface thereof and an index line extending longitudinally along the surface thereof and an index line extending along the length of the flat. The third part is a nut which is threaded on the second part. The nut can be tightened against the first part for firmly securing the parts together in a releasable, fixed position. The nut has equally spaced markings around its circumference which form a scale used with the index line on the second part in setting a desired overall length of the stop member.
