  • Patent number: 10007875
Abstract: A point-of-sale security activation card is provided. The card includes first and second card panels, a security element selectively interposed between the card panels, and machine readable content carried by either or both of the card panels. An inside panel surface of the first card panel is characterized by a revealable information field comprised of revealable information. The second card panel includes a tab, the tab overlying an end portion of the revealable information field of the first card panel. The security element includes a body, and a head extending therefrom. The head underlies the tab of the second card panel, the body overlying a substantial portion of the revealable information and intersecting with the machine readable content. Manipulation of the tab in furtherance of revealing the revealable information results in corruption of the machine readable content by the security element.

  • Patent number: 9975786
Abstract: A method of improving the evaporation from surface bodies of water which comprises artificially inducing air flow over a body of water using air jets at an air flow rate of at least 10 m/second while the water partial pressure of air at the surface temperature of the body of water (Pbs) is greater than the water partial pressure of the ambient air at the surface temperature of the body of water (Pas). The rate of evaporation can be materially enhanced by the transfer of geothermal heat from the lower region of the body of water to the surface region by means of a heat exchanger or a heat pipe.

  • Patent number: 8651014
Abstract: A fire containment system and method is disclosed. The fire containment system is designed to assist in temporarily containing a fire within a semi-enclosed space having an open side for operator access. An exhaust air blower exhausts air from the semi-enclosed space through an exhaust vent. An inlet air blower provides air to the semi-enclosed space through an inlet vent. In the case of a fire in the semi-enclosed space, the fire will be drawn away from the open side and toward the inlet vent due to the air supplied by the inlet air blower. The fire is thus encouraged to remain within the semi-enclosed space, allowing additional time for a fire suppression mechanism to be activated.

  • Patent number: 7694545
Abstract: An adjustment stroke connection for a mechanical press includes an eccentric bushing disposed within a press connection member and an eccentric crankshaft member disposed within the eccentric bushing. A rotatable crankshaft is connected to the eccentric member. A mechanism is provided for connecting the eccentric bushing with the press connection member in a manner that prevents rotation therebetween and concurrently permits rotation of the eccentric member relative to the eccentric bushing. When the mechanism is activated, driving rotation of the crankshaft produces a press stroke adjustment. A torque actuator delivers equal driving torque to plural eccentric crankshaft members to enable minimization of relative bushing angle slip. Suitable control of the bushing angle and slide position crank angle during bushing expansion and contraction also minimizes relative bushing angle slip.

  • Patent number: 6872923
Abstract: A popcorn machine for automatic activation of the popping cycle is disclosed. The popcorn machine has a kettle with a heating element controlled by a thermostat. Popping corn is placed in the kettle by a user. A control panel has a one pop button which when pressed initiates the full popping cycle. The one pop button activates a relay that closes a connection through the thermostat to the heating element. The thermostat regulates the temperature in the kettle and shuts off power to the heating element by opening itself and unlatching the relay after a predetermined temperature is reached to allow the completion of the popping cycle. If the kettle initially is over the predetermined temperature, the thermostat will be open and the relay will be unlatched, preventing power from flowing to the heating element. A timer relay may be connected to the first relay to allow the activation of the heating element during a set period of time allowing the kettle to cool. The kettle may also be connected to an oil pump.
