    Abstract: The illumination system includes a plurality of illumination structures (10), the illumination structures being arranged around the periphery of the playing field. Each illumination structure (10) includes a mounting pole (12) and a plurality of luminaires which are individually mounted by mounting arms from the pole. The luminaires are cut-off forward-throw luminaires. The luminaires are arranged relative to each other such that each luminaire, respectively, does not block light originating from any of the other luminaires.

    Abstract: An elongated light source is positioned at the focal point of a reflector which is shaped so that the majority of the light generated by the light source is provided over a 60.degree. included angle along its length, uniformly illuminating a defined area on a light delivery plane, the defined area having a longitudinal dimension equal to the length of the light source, and a transverse dimension equal to the distance between the reflector and the light delivery plane.
