    Abstract: A decontamination formulation is provided which is effective against a broad spectrum of chemical and biological warfare agents and radioactive dusts, comprising an active decontamination agent, a co-solvent, a buffer system to optimize the initial reaction pH above 8.5 and more preferably in the range of 10 to 11 for favoring oxidation of VX and HD and hydrolysis of G agents, and a surfactant similar to fire-fighting foaming agent. Formulations comprise, in water by weight, 1% to 15% of a hydrated chloroisocyanuric acid salt, 1% to 10% of a polypropylene glycol co-solvent, 1% to 15% surfactant and a buffer system to initially maintain said formulation at a pH from about 11 to about 8.5 for sufficient duration to effect decontamination. The formulation can be provided in kit form or concentrate form, be prepared, in part, in advance or on site, and be dispensed in foam form which aids in coating and adhering of the decontamination formulation to contaminated surfaces.

    Abstract: A method and foam formulation are provided for enabling both blast suppressing and decontamination, particularly desirable when faced with an explosive device which has been rigged with a contaminant for destructive dissemination. A formulation is foamed to surround the explosive CB contaminant device, preferably encapsulated in a containment structure. The preferred composition of foamer-compatible decontaminant and foamer to foam and surround the device is about 1% to 3%/w of hydrated chloroisocyanuric acid salts and more including lithium hypochlorite, about 1% of a co-solvent selected from the group consisting of polypropylene glycols, polyethylene glycols, and derivatives and mixtures thereof; about 1% to about 5% of a surfactant and foam stabilizer; and a buffer system to initially maintain said formulation at a pH from about 11.0 to about 8.5 for a minimum of 30 minutes; and the balance being water.

    Abstract: A cream or lotion consisting essentially of at least one active ingredient chosen from the alkali metal salts of certain oximes, phenols or polyethylene glycol monoethers, dispersed in a substantially anhydrous state in a base medium comprising of polyethylene glycol(s) which has (have) optionally been at least partially etherified to reduce the free hydroxyl group content thereof. These creams or lotions are effective against chemical warfare agents of both the V and G types, and against mustard gas (H or HD), and are simpler to make than known potassium salt-containing creams, for example those containing a macrocyclic ether and/or inert thickener and potassium phenate. These creams or lotions may be used both for protection and decontamination, and some may be used as personal barrier creams.
