  • Publication number: 20230414664
Abstract: Provided herein are recombinant miniature swine expressing human CD47 in a tissue specific fashion. Also provided are kidneys isolated from a miniature swine, wherein the glomeruli of the kidney express human CD47 at a level higher than the level of human CD47 expression in the tubules of the kidney. Furthermore, provided herein are methods of transplanting such swine kidneys with glomeruli-specific expression of human CD47 from recombinant miniature swine into human recipients. In certain aspects, provided herein are methods of transplantation comprising transplanting hematopoietic stem cells expressing human CD47 from a first donor animal (e.g., a miniature swine) and a kidney expressing human CD47 in the glomeruli from a second donor animal (e g., a miniature swine) to a recipient (e.g., a human recipient).

  • Patent number: 10316506
Abstract: Aspects of a detention pond retrofit device for detention basin outlet control provide structures designed to throttle stormwater flow and maintain the rate at which water is discharged from the system below Qcritical, the flow rate at which erosion and down cutting of the receiving stream would begin, based on channel morphology and bed material resistance. The primary goal of the device is to induce increased flow detention during low to moderate rain events, while providing similar hydraulic performance during large events to that of the detention basin performance prior to the installation of the retrofit unit. This is achieved through a “T” or “Y” design with split flow paths, in which the lower path is hydraulically restricted through the installation of structures while the upper path is unrestricted.

  • Publication number: 20120307989
Abstract: A multimedia call capability is disclosed. The multimedia call capability supports establishment of a data session in conjunction with a call, the data session being established between a user device and a multimedia answering point. The call may be directed to a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and/or a private answering point. The multimedia call capability enables dynamic routing of call signaling of the user device to the answering point based on whether the user device includes a media content capture capability (e.g., a still camera, a video camera, and the like). The data session is configured to support propagation of media content from the user device to the answering point in conjunction with the call. The media content may include photographs, video, and the like, as well as various combinations thereof. The media content may be provided before, during, and/or after voice communications between the user of the user device and the operator at the answering point.

  • Patent number: 8055704
Abstract: An exemplary method provides Internet Protocol (IP) devices of passengers of an in-flight airplane with terrestrial Internet IP communications. One airplane in a group of in-flight airplanes functions as a ground link airplane with a direct communication link to a ground station. Each airplane in the group travels in a substantially linear direction. A daisy chain of communications between adjacent airplanes in the group supports inter-airplane IP communications for carrying IP information of the IP devices of the passengers. The ground link airplane collects the IP-based information of the IP devices of the passengers and relays this information to the ground station that is connected to the terrestrial Internet. A communication satellite is not utilized to support any of these communications.

  • Publication number: 20060288039
Abstract: A set of programs is disclosed comprising a web display interface program (WIP), a Display Configuration Program (DCP) and a Sequence Logging Program (SLP). Responsive to user actions, the set of programs provide instructions to a server connected to storage containing a facet tree database and a rules database. The WIP comprises a user interface and a set of servlets that read the facet element to be displayed from the facet tree database, and based upon the user characteristics, acquire the appropriate display rules for the user from the rules database. The DCP allows an administrator to select or configure rules that will establish views for different end users that are tailored to those particular end users. The SLP allows end users to navigate through a set of facets using a standard faceted search, or using a previously constructed sequence of facets, and logs the user choices for later use.

  • Publication number: 20060271565
Abstract: A tagging application (TA) is disclosed that comprises a web interface program (WIP) and a tagging program (TP). The WIP presents the facet tree by displaying elements of the facet tree selected by the user along with a known activation method for the user to select a facet element and to assign a value to the selected facet or facet element. The user may proceed to manually tag each facet and facet element by selecting a value representing the facet element to be tagged. The user may also eliminate manual selection of many of the facets and facet elements by choosing a tagging scenario and then applying the tagging scenario. Once the user has selected a tagging scenario, and has indicated that it is to be applied to the facet element, the TP takes the selected value and applies the selected tagging scenario to populate the tagging for the user in accordance with the tagging scenario. Once the tagging has been populated, the tagging program returns the tagged facet tree to the user at the user interface.

  • Publication number: 20040060231
Abstract: An adjustable, modular transport system for safely moving floral arrangements for funerals and other events by means of a truck or van. The system includes a base unit of various lengths having an elongated base with groove-forming rails mounted on the sides of the base along the length thereof to form respective inward facing grooves. The base floor and the inward facing grooves form a slot. The rails contained bores spaced therealong at equal intervals to accommodate spacers having corresponding rods extending downward therefrom. The slot accommodates a conventional floral basket base extension. A number of baskets may be inserted and separated by the spacers installed therebetween. The slot accommodate a base support for a flower pot or vase holder and of the same dimensions as that of the conventional basket base. The flower vase holder is tubular in shape, vertically mounted on an end.

  • Patent number: 6666144
Abstract: The invention comprises an improved precision rocket motor and warhead system by increasing the spin rate of the rocket motor. The system comprises an outer housing segment attached to the end of a rocket motor tube and an annular sleeve placed within the end of the outer housing segment so that the end of the sleeve is aligned with the end of the segment. At least two annular bearings are placed around the outer surface of the sleeve. Normally the annular bearings will be made of a plastic type material that can be “stretched” around the outside of the sleeve prior to placing it within the outer housing segment. The inner surface of the sleeve will include a warhead attachment mechanism to secure the warhead to the inner surface. Finally, the invention includes a locking mechanism that locks the sleeve in place within the outer housing segment while attaching the warhead to the sleeve and unlocks to allow the sleeve to rotate independently of the rocket motor.

  • Patent number: 6457130
Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for enforcing file access control among client devices using multiple diverse access control models and multiple diverse file server protocols. A multi-protocol file server identifies each file with one particular access control model out of a plurality of possible models, and enforces that one particular model for all accesses to that file. When the file server receives a file server request for that file using a different access control model, the file server translates the access control limits for that file into no-less-restrictive limits in the different model. The file server restricts access by the client device using the translated access control limits. Each file is assigned the access control model of the user who created the file or who last set access control limits for the file. When a user having a different access control model sets access control limits, the access control model for the file is changed to the new model.

  • Patent number: 6381579
Abstract: Provide an electronic-business-to-electronic-business portal that organizes the access to extended business applications. A method allows end users to access a server using standard Web browsers, and then view their own customized menu of applications. Enhanced security and administrative tools allow this portal to be shared throughout enterprises and across supply chains, providing secure access to collaborative applications by business partners and suppliers. Access to specific applications is granted to authorized users and teams, within and outside of a company. Real-time, on-line registration of users allows for rapid changes in teams and projects. Users can be added, deleted, or have access levels altered to reflect changes in the makeup of teams. Provide a common infrastructure for application administration, security management, and directory use, which can help reduce information technology (IT) costs and speed solution deployment.
