  • Patent number: 11345795
Abstract: A cup lump natural rubber devoid of impurities with a size of greater than 0.5 mm and having a plasticity retention index of greater than 80 is provided. The use of such a natural rubber in a line for manufacturing a semi-finished product based on natural rubber makes it possible to ensure an improved compromise of performances which are the productivity of a line for manufacturing semi-finished products and the quality of the semi-finished products resulting from this production line.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 15, 2018
Date of Patent: May 31, 2022
Assignee: COMPAGNIE GENERALE DES ETABLISSEMENTS MICHELIN
Inventors: Françoise Granet, Denis Bernard, Jérôme Dussillols
  • Publication number: 20200317823
Abstract: A process for drying a natural rubber starting from a wet natural rubber coagulum is provided. In a first step, the wet natural rubber coagulum is compressed at a temperature ranging from 185° C. to 210° C., then in a second step subjected to a flash adiabatic expansion at a differential pressure of at least 100 bar. Optionally supplemented by convective drying or by repeating the first and second steps, the process leads to a dry natural rubber having a nitrogen content of at most 0.3%.

  • Publication number: 20180016368
Abstract: A process for the continuous synthesis of diene elastomers with a high degree of conversion is provided. The process includes simultaneously: a) introducing continuously into a polymerisation reactor containing a gas phase and equipped with at least one stirring rotor and a discharge device, at least i. one or more monomers, including at least one conjugated diene monomer, and ii. from 0% to 70% by mass of an organic solvent, calculated relative to the total mass of monomers and of solvent, b) continuously polymerising the monomer(s), c) stirring the polymerisation medium via the continuous movement of at least one stirring rotor about a rotary axle, d) continuously discharging the elastomer paste, e) continuously conveying the discharged elastomer paste to a chopping device and chopping it into particles, f) removing solvent from the particles of the elastomer paste, and g) recovering diene elastomer.
