  • Patent number: 11827030
Abstract: A device that prints with ink includes an ink reservoir for ink and an arrangement of multiple printing elements, for instance printing heads. The printing elements are identical with one another, they generate ink drops, and they are supplied in parallel with ink from a joint supply line. A further element, which is different from the printing element and which is controllable in terms of its ink flow, for instance a pump, is supplied with ink in parallel with the printing elements by the same supply line. Undesirable hydrostatic pressure changes in the ink are reduced as much as possible, or even eliminated.

  • Patent number: 11279136
Abstract: A device for supplying liquid ink to an ink print head in an ink printing machine includes an ink reservoir, a line for guiding the ink from the reservoir to the print head, a line for guiding the ink from the print head to the reservoir, and a damper for damping pressure fluctuations in the liquid ink. The damper has a movable and/or deformable membrane with a given thickness. In a position of repose, the membrane has a length L and a width W, and the length L is at least twice as long as the width W. The device renders possible in a simple and cost-efficient way to reliably avoid even large pressure fluctuations, in particular high pressure peaks in the liquid ink.

  • Patent number: 10987924
Abstract: A method for printing an image with improved printing quality using liquid ink includes using a pump to pump ink to a print head for printing rows of the image onto a moving printing substrate. A respective value correlated with the amount of ink required to print the rows is calculated for a plurality of individual rows or a plurality of grouped rows of the image. • Publication number: 20200262212
Abstract: A method for degassing water-based ink is described. An ink reservoir is connected to a vacuum source via a gas-permeable membrane and a connecting piece to remove the undesired gas. During the degassing process, water vapor is fed to the connecting piece. Thus, the viscosity of the water-based ink in the ink reservoir remains on an essentially constant level. The method may advantageously be implemented continuously in inkjet printing machines.

  • Patent number: 9321260
Abstract: A method for creating a printed image with sections on an object using at least two inkjet print heads, includes forming the image of first and second image sections, in a y direction at a fixed angle different than 0° and 180° relative to an object conveying direction, printing print dots of the first and second sections using first and second heads having first and second inkjet nozzles with the sections partially overlapping in a region and potentially forming a light or dark line, defining first and second complementary nozzle fields of the first and second heads to be active for each column of dots in the y direction, and placing a joint between the fields in the overlap region in a light or dark area of the column for each column of dots, avoiding potentially disruptive light or dark lines at the joint and keeping the image without defect.

  • Patent number: 7955456
Abstract: A method is disclosed for printing a blister film web in a packaging machine, in which molded blister shells are closed with blister film. In the method, a blister film web is supplied to a sealing apparatus via a first transport system, and molded blister shells are supplied to the sealing apparatus via a second transport system. The position of one of the molded blister shells is detected, and at least one detection signal is generated in one or more time intervals between the action time intervals of the sealing apparatus for closing the molded blister shells. A trigger signal for a printing device is generated in dependence on a detection, and optical information is applied to the blister film web by the printing device at a position along the blister film web which is arranged upstream of the sealing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7561175
Abstract: A method and a device adapt the number of stepping motor cycles K to a temperature-dependent length change of a feed spindle in an exposer for recording printing originals. The length change is measured via a reference rod, which is disposed parallel to the feed direction of the exposure head carrier. A reference distance is disposed on the reference rod. The exposure head carrier is located on a feed spindle, which is driven by a stepping motor. A number K0 of cycles of the stepping motor per revolution of the exposure drum for a specific printing result is determined once. A corrected number Kk of stepping motor cycles for achieving the same printed result is then determined as a function of the different temperature-dependent length changes of feed spindle and reference rod.

  • Patent number: 7522281
Abstract: In temperature-controlled printing plate exposers, it is possible for condensation of dampening solution or moisture to occur in a region of printing plates or laser apparatus. In this way, imaging of printing plates can be impaired and/or the laser apparatus can suffer damage resulting from corrosion. An apparatus detects the quantity of dampening solution on a measuring spot in an exposer for printing forms. The intention is for the ingress of condensation within a printing plate exposer to be detected more accurately. A measuring beam having a first intensity is reflected from the measuring spot and a measured signal is generated at a photoelectric conductor. Following evaporation of the dampening layer on the measuring spot, a reference signal is generated at a photoelectric converter by reflected radiation from the measuring spot. By comparing a measured signal and a reference signal, the dampening solution or moisture can be detected.

  • Patent number: 7126146
Abstract: A device and a method for detecting the edge of a recording material, in particular, a printing plate, in an exposer for recording printing originals includes an exposer having an exposure drum holding the plate, and an exposure head moved axially along the drum and focusing exposure beams onto the plate. An optical fiber is let into the drum surface and an illuminating device, moved axially along the drum, radiates light radially into the fiber. A photodetector at the fiber receives the light radiated therein. Covering the light radiated in with the plate is used to detect the plate edge. Counting cycles of a feed drive moving the illuminating device determines an axial position of the edge. Alternatively, light of a light source is radiated axially into the fiber and the light emitted radially by the fiber is received using an optical detector moved by the feed drive.
