Patent number: 10009516Abstract: The invention relates to a method of modifying a data set containing color component values, which method allows the component of a color in a color spectrum that is provided to be generally set to zero and thus not to use that color. For this purpose, it is provided to first select an image area of a printed product, i.e. a portion of the data set. Further, it is determined which color from the color spectrum shall not be used. The color value for the selected image area is determined. A tolerance range around the color value is fixed. In a further step, it is determined which combinations of color component values that are formed of the remaining colors of the color spectrum include color values that are within the tolerance range fixed around the color value of the selected area. Thereafter, one of the combinations of the color component values is selected.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2016Date of Patent: June 26, 2018Assignee: GMG GMBH & CO. KGInventors: Jürgen Wurster, Henning Kramer

Patent number: 8681376Abstract: In order to improve a method for producing test prints such that the same results in reproducible test prints in a narrow deviation spectrum at high accuracy with the highest possible print flexibility, the invention provides a method for the production of test prints (proofs) of print data intended for printing on an industrial printing machine on a digital printer, wherein the print data is converted from a color space for any given industrial printing machine into digital proof print data in a color space for any given digital printer, as a function of a given state based on conversion tables, wherein the given state comprises parameters, such as paper type, ink, printing mode, and wherein conversion data is determined and considered during the printing process for a calibration file for the printer based on data compatible with the color space, by means of printing a test image, measuring the same, and comparing the same to a typical printer target image, wherein parameters dependent on a measuring deviceType: GrantFiled: April 22, 2009Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: GMG GmbH & Co. Patent number: 8643665Abstract: A method for transformation of color values of an initial color space reproducible by a first technical device to color values of a target color space reproducible by a second technical device is provided. The method includes movement from one color space by conversion of color values to different color values in the basic color space and scaling by conversion to different color values in the basic color space. The method also includes conversion of color values of the initial color space to color values which are closest to the color value in the edge area of the target color space. The method also includes movement of color values located in an edge area of the target color space to the interior of the target color space by conversion as a function of the number of identical edge color values to color values on the same color variation plane.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2007Date of Patent: February 4, 2014Assignee: GMG GmbH & Co. Patent number: 8593690Abstract: To improve a method for making an overprint prediction to that extent, that the method allows more reliable overprint predictions with a reduced effort, the invention proposes a method for making the overprint prediction for a color combination, in which method a printing substrate and at least two printing colors and one gradation of hue values per printing color including the full tone as well as color combinations are predefined as data of the hue value of the n printing colors, wherein first of all individual color predictions comprising three transmittance components and the associated transmittance spectra for the respective hue value are determined for each of the n printing colors, wherein for an intended color combination up to (3 to the power of n) combinations of the transmittance components and the associated combined transmittance spectra are determined, and an overall reflectance spectrum of an overprint is predicted on the basis of the determined transmittance components with their transmittancType: GrantFiled: April 22, 2011Date of Patent: November 26, 2013Assignee: GMG GmbH & Co.
