  • Publication number: 20130320004
Abstract: A system for attaching an electrical box to a mounting assembly. The system includes a metallic mounting assembly and a metallic electrical box. A permanent fastener is utilized for attaching the electrical box to the mounting assembly. A magnet is positioned on or near the electrical box and mounting assembly providing a magnetic attraction with the mounting assembly and the electrical box, thereby temporarily attaching the electrical box to the mounting assembly. In one embodiment, the magnet is a magnetic disc positioned in an indentation on a top surface of the electrical box. The fastener may be one or more screws attached to a mounting bracket affixed to the mounting assembly which is inserted through the top surface of the electrical box and into the interior of the electrical box.

  • Publication number: 20070215773
Abstract: A mounting bracket assembly for hanging a heavy object in a ceiling area comprises a support bar and a clamping component. The support bar telescopes to span a distance between a pair of spaced joists, includes two tubular members which have axes that are parallel and are oriented side-by-side, and an end-plate at each end of the support bar. An overlay for each end-plate includes circular bosses to hold and align preset fasteners, and a slide to adjust the height of the end-plate. The clamping component includes a clamping bar, and at least one fastener that attach the clamping bar to an electrical junction box. When a portion of the support bar is positioned between the clamping bar and the electrical junction box, tightening the fastener that attaches the clamping bar to the electrical junction box will secure the electrical junction box to the support bar.

  • Publication number: 20060013672
Abstract: The present invention is a flex lock nut. The flex lock nut includes a hexagonally shaped nut body having a threaded bore. In addition, the nut body includes a collar portion formed by six slotted segments mounted on an upper end of the nut body. The collar portion has a smaller diameter than the nut body. On a bottom opposite end of the nut body is an annular recess located on a perimeter around the bore. When the flex lock nut is seated upon a thread bolt, the lock nut provides two locking features. First, while threading the nut upon the bolt, the slotted segments expand to provide a conventional upper locking feature. In addition, as the flex lock nut is continually seated upon the bolt, the annular recess deforms, thereby provide a novel second locking feature.

  • Publication number: 20050152769
Abstract: A lock nut having a locking ring with a spoon-shaped lug. The lock ring includes a nut body having a bore with an interior threaded portion and a substantially cylindrical recess coaxial with the threaded portion of the bore. The recess includes a single notch on a portion of the recess. In addition, the lock ring includes a threaded locking ring positioned within the recess. The locking ring is deformed when threading the bolt onto the lock nut to frictionally grip the bolt. The locking ring also includes a single projecting lug at one side only of the locking ring, which fits into the notch to prevent relative rotation between the ring and the nut body. The lug includes a bowl-shaped nodule for collecting shavings gathering within the threads of the bolt and the interior bore of the lock nut.
