  • Patent number: 5176060
Abstract: An apparatus for simultaneously miter angle cutting to length the end of a wood truss web includes an upright frame having a workpiece guide path, horizontally extending through the frame. A pair of superposed angled saw blades are moved vertically by a pressure cylinder across the workpiece path which severs the workpiece to form a truss web to length while simultaneously miter angle cutting its ends on predetermined angles.

  • Patent number: 4454794
Abstract: A power saw for rapid and repetitive accurate cutting of truss members on predetermined angles to insure tight fitting truss joints. The power saw is cycled vertically in a reciprocating mode and indexed at the limit of its respective up and downstrokes after being set at precise cutting angles. An adjustable saw indexing cylinder permits a wide range of web angle cuts. Workpiece clamps, mounted on a workpiece guide, coact with a web length stop to insure cutting webs of equal length and initiate the substantially automatic reciprocation and indexing of the saw acting on the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4448102
Abstract: A miter saw guide for making miter cuts on a workpiece comprising an upright rectangular stand supporting a pair of horizontal plates at its respective end portions. An upright bridge assembly transversely spans the frame between the plates and defines a workpiece travel path. A track assembly extends longitudinally of the frame between the bridge and workpiece path and overlies the plates at its respective end portions. Turntable bearing means connect the track assembly to the bridge and forms a vertical axis for horizontal pivoting movement of the track assembly in opposing directions. A cradle is supported by the track assembly for to and fro longitudinal movement. At least one electric miter hand saw is secured to the saw cradle with its cutting blade intersecting the workpiece path during cradle movement.

  • Patent number: 4437234
Abstract: An elongated platform supports the web and chord components forming a truss joist when assembled thereon to be joined by truss plates. The truss plates, when positioned at the respective juncture of the chords and webs, are pressed into place by a gantry-type power driven drum apparatus extending transversely of and supported by the platform when progressively moved longitudinally of the platform. Discharge rollers normally disposed below the upper limit of the platform lift the finished truss for movement off the platform.

  • Patent number: 4056031
Abstract: An upright stand horizontally supports an elongated workpiece from which truss webs are to be cut. The stand includes a vertical column supporting a motor driven head driving an endless band saw blade substantially describing a figure eight. The crossed portions of the band saw blade form angular surfaces on the respective ends of a web cut from the workpiece by downward movement of the head.
