Abstract: A thin walled finger groove adapter for a handgun comprising a very thin ductile metal reinforcing plate encapsulated with thin front and back layers of elastomeric material. At least one finger groove projection is provided on the front surface of the adapter in registry with a hole through the reinforcing plate so that the projection is integral with both the front and back layers of encapsulating material. The finger groove adapter is substantially no greater than 0.040 inches thick with the metal plate being no more than about 0.015, and preferably about 0.010, inches thick. It is well suited for handgun users who have small hands. The finger groove adapter is molded in a flat condition and may be trimmed in the flat configuration to a variety of final shapes so as to accommodate mounting to a variety of different handgun handles. The finger groove adapter is sold in the flat or only slightly bent configuration, and is deformed into the appropriate shape for mounting to the handgun by the user.

Abstract: A pump gun having a forend element which is adapted to be reciprocated manually parallel to the barrel of the gun to feed successive rounds of ammunition to a firing location and cock the gun, with a handle connected to the forend element for reciprocation therewith and projecting generally transversely therefrom and therebeyond to facilitate cocking and holding of the gun. The handle may be mounted to swing between positions in which it projects in different directions from the forend element, and be releasably detented in any of those positions. The forend may have an outer surface formed of an elastomeric material for cushioning contact therewith.

Abstract: A cushioning pad adapted to be connected to the lower end of a gun cartridge clip and including a body of elastomeric material to be engaged by a user's hand in pressing the clip upwardly into the handle of the gun, and a reinforcing plate embedded within the elastomeric material and through which screws extend upwardly for connection into the bottom wall of the clip body, with the screws having heads applying upward force to the reinforcing element in a manner securing the pad on the clip. If the clip is of a type having a horizontally slidably removable bottom wall, the pad may be secured to that wall and contain a passage through which a tool is insertable upwardly to a position for engaging and releasing a latch element normally holding the bottom wall against detaching movement.

Abstract: A cushioned gun grip includes two elastomeric grip bodies receivable at opposite sides of a gun handle and containing reinforcing plates stiffer than the elastomeric material and having forward portions extending inwardly toward one another in front of the gun handle and within inwardly turned forward flanges formed by the elastomeric material, with the rear edges of the elastomeric bodies and contained reinforcing plates desirably being spaced apart for reception at opposite sides of a rear surface of the handle in a manner leaving that rear surface exposed.

Abstract: A gun grip including two sections to be received at opposite sides of the handle of a gun, with the sections including elastomeric bodies forming two side panels having flanges projecting inwardly toward one another at the rear of the handle, and desirably also at the front of the handle, and reinforcing plates embedded within the elastomeric bodies and having edge portions projecting inwardly toward one another within the elastomeric flanges at locations behind the handle and preferably also in front of the handle.

Abstract: A gun having a forend at the underside of the barrel including a body of elastomeric material with outer surfaces deformable to cushion a user's contact therewith and preferably containing a reinforcing material stiffer than the elastomeric material desirably taking the form of a U-shaped reinforcing element which is clamped and retained between a fastener and the barrel of the gun to secure the forend to the barrel.

Abstract: A pistol grip preferably including a cushioning part having a rear portion extending across the back of a pistol handle and having side portions projecting forwardly from said rear portion at opposite sides of the handle, with the part desirably including a body of elastomeric material containing a reinforcing structure stiffer than the elastomeric material and of generally U-shaped horizontal sectional configuration. The cushioning part may be retained on the pistol handle by a fastener or fasteners extending forwardly through apertures in the back of the cushioning part and connectable to the pistol handle.

Abstract: A pistol grip including a grip body of elastomeric material to be connected to the frame of a pistol and containing a recess within which a terminal portion of the frame extends downwardly, with the elastomeric material containing a cushioning recess which is located behind the first mentioned recess and gives to the grip body greater compressability in a front to rear direction to increase its absorption of recoil force upon firing of the gun.

Abstract: A cushioned gun grip to be applied to a pistol or other gun of a type having a grip mounting projection extending downwardly and rearwardly from the frame of the gun, with the grip containing a recess dimensioned to receive the projection, and with the grip being retainable on the frame by a fastener extending through the grip and connecting to the projection. The grip includes an elastomeric body extending about the recess and projection, and a reinforcing structure stiffer than and embedded within the elastomeric material and having portions received at opposite sides of the recess and projection and having a portion at the lower end of the reinforcing structure against which a fastener can exert upward clamping force to attach the grip to the frame.

Abstract: A piston grip including a body formed at least partially from elastomeric material and having two side portions to be received at opposite sides of a revolver handle, and a cross strap portion connected permanently to the side portions at rear edges thereof to extend across the back of the pistol handle. The side portions may have flanges projecting inwardly from their forward edges to be received in front of the piston handle. Relatively stiff reinforcing elements are provided in the side portions of the body, and flexible reinforcing fabric or other material is provided in the cross strap portion.

Abstract: A pistol grip including two side panels to be received at opposite sides of the handle of a pistol, and cross straps to extend between the two side panels at the front and back of the handle, with all of these sections including elastomeric material having outer gripping surfaces to be contacted by the hand of a user, and with the cross straps having connector portions which extend to locations at the inner sides of the side panels and which have projections extending laterally outwardly to positions opposite coacting shoulders formed in the side panels in a relation positively locking the cross straps against detachment from the side panels.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for shaping a gun recoil pad, by mounting a gun stock and carried initially oversize pad for universal pivotal movement about a predetermined center while the stock is turned about generally its longitudinal axis relative to an abrading unit which then progressively abrades away the excess material at the periphery of the pad to form a surface which is aligned with and is essentially a continuation of the outer surface of the gun stock itself at its butt end.
