  • Patent number: 8813332
Abstract: A method of fitting a compressed component, for example a pipe, in a receiver, for example a bore, comprises compressing a selected component which is made out of a polymeric material having a glass transition temperature of at least 100° C., for example polyetheretherketone; arranging the compressed component in position within a receiver; and subjecting the compressed component to conditions, for example of temperature and/or pressure, whereby the compressed component expands.

Date of Patent: August 26, 2014
    Assignee: Victrex Manufacturing Limited
Inventors: Richard Thomas Leibfried, Guglielmo Pernice, Geoff Small, Jack Vloedman, Alan Wood

  • Patent number: 7134495
Abstract: A casing liner and method for lining a casing affixed in a well bore. The casing liner having a plurality of grooves and ridges arranged longitudinally and in an alternating relationship about the exterior surface of the casing liner to increase stress storage upon the casing liner being radially reduced in size and thereby decrease the expansion rate of the casing liner and facilitate installation of the casing liner into the casing.

  • Patent number: 6283211
Abstract: A method for lining a portion of a casing affixed within a well bore a distance below an upper end of the well bore with a viscoelastic pipe having an upper end, a lower end, and an outer diameter greater than the inner diameter of the casing is provided. The outer diameter of the pipe is reduced so that the outer diameter of the pipe is less than the inner diameter of the casing. The reduced pipe is then lowered into the casing to a predetermined depth where the upper end of the reduced pipe is positioned a distance below the upper end of the well bore. The reduced pipe is then allowed to expand against the internal wall of the casing, thereby forming a fluid tight seal with the casing and effectively sealing any breaches in the casing. So that the outer diameter of the reduced pipe remains less than the inner diameter of the casing as the viscoelastic pipe is being passed down the casing, the reduced pipe is maintained in tension as the reduced pipe is being passed down the casing.

  • Patent number: 5454419
Abstract: A method of lining a casing affixed in a well bore for repairing breaches in the casing with a continuous string of tubular polymeric material is provided. The tubular polymeric material has an outer diameter greater than the inner diameter of the casing. The outer diameter of the tubular polymeric material is reduced and such reduced material is injected into casing such that the polyethylene pipe remains in a reduced state until the polyethylene pipe is run to a preselected depth. After the polyethylene pipe is run to the desired depth, the reduced pipe is allowed to rebound thereby forming a fluid tight seal with the casing and effectively sealing any breaches in the casing.
