  • Patent number: 11435081
Abstract: Methods of servicing a fuel nozzle are provided. a method of servicing a fuel nozzle includes a step of machining away material from a nozzle tip of the fuel nozzle to form an annular groove within the nozzle tip. The method further includes a step of inserting a replacement coupon into the annular groove. The replacement coupon having a radially outermost that corresponds to the annular groove and a post-removal contact surface. The method further includes a step of fixedly coupling the radially outermost of the replacement coupon to the annular groove.

  • Publication number: 20170314408
Abstract: A repair patch for use with a turbine seal includes a shim having a first side and an opposite second side and a cloth seal having a first section and a second section. The cloth seal is coupled to the shim, such that the cloth seal is folded over a radial edge of the shim such that the first section substantially covers the first side and the second section substantially covers the second side. The second section includes an extension section that extends from the second side such that at least a portion of the cloth seal overlaps at least a portion of the turbine seal when coupled thereto.

  • Publication number: 20160380520
Abstract: Various embodiments include approaches for servicing a dynamoelectric machine main lead. Some embodiments include a method of servicing a main lead in a dynamoelectric machine rotor having a collector end retaining ring retaining the main lead, a terminal stud contacting the main lead, a winding contacting the main lead, and main terminal insulation proximate the main lead, the method including: removing the collector end retaining ring to expose the main lead; disconnecting the main lead from each of the winding and the terminal stud, during the disconnecting of the main lead from the terminal stud, cooling the main terminal insulation proximate the main lead; connecting a replacement main lead to each of the winding and the terminal stud; and during the connecting of the replacement main lead to the terminal stud, cooling the main terminal insulation proximate the main lead.

  • Patent number: 9242832
Abstract: A hand-carried taping machine for taping an elongated object is disclosed. The machine includes a powered gear set operably coupled to a body and powered by a drive system. An applicator head includes a substantially C-shaped gear in meshing engagement with the powered gear set such that the substantially C-shaped gear rotates about an application axis under control of the drive system, and a tape reel mount for rotatably mounting a reel of tape on the substantially C-shaped gear for rotation about the application axis and application of the tape to the elongated object. A non-powered guide system operably couples to the body for guiding the applicator head along the elongated object with transient engagement with the elongated object such that the elongated object is maintained in a vicinity of the reel of tape.

  • Patent number: 8957353
Abstract: A heat generation system and a method of curing an adhesive for an electrical generator rotor during a rotor rewind operation are provided. The heat generation system includes a heating source in contact with a pole of the electrical generator rotor to heat the pole, thereby reducing heat loss from the adhesive to the pole. The heat generation system also includes at least one holding arrangement holding the heating source in contact with the at least one pole. The method includes applying an adhesive onto an electrical generator rotor and utilizing a heat generation system to provide heat to the electrical generator rotor. The method further includes placing a heating source in contact with the pole, holding the heating source in contact with the pole using a holding arrangement, heating the pole by activating the heating source, and heat curing the adhesive.
